It was satirical……… the point u were implying in the original post was that it’s not real baseball so I (in a very obviously sarcastic way) said pinch hit for Trout with the closer……….my point was that attributes in the game actually mimic real life as most right handed hitters are better against a left handed hitter and vice versa……..

There are still mid inning pitching changes. And how old are you? This def seems like a longing for the way things "use to be" if bunting and mid inning pitching changes are zapping the "fun" of baseball for you lol All the bunting in real life ball is going to be gone when this universal DH comes next year

I mean, there are still bullpen decisions to be made, one might say it's harder to look at your bullpen, look at the next 3 hitters coming up, and try to decide which bullpen arm to use. I used to be able to go LEFT RIGHT LEFT in the 8th inning. Now, its harder to just pick one guy, and it effects how you set up your bullpen now.

I rarely bunt anyway, I prefer the DH, and I only bunt late in the game with a guy on 2ND and no outs and I need that 1 run. And my team always has one guy that can actually bunt for that moment.

I would not say bunting would be completely purged from the game of baseball. But for sure we will see much less of it. However perhaps it would be purged from the game if the players never practice the skill.

All the lefty hitters should bunt against the shift. They could walk to first!

Your definition of satire is generous.

Okay I’ll play along. All your doing is confirming my point. Like I said in my first post. Since there are attributes in game to determine how a player performs against a certain handedness of a pitcher, don’t worry about lefty righty matchups. If the right handed batter your facing can’t hit lefties, feel free do leave your left handed pitcher in to face him.

You are literally just repeating what I said in my original statement, and then making an exaggeration at the end to make it seem outrageous. Which is just making your own statement look ridiculous. This is either a failure to communicate, or you are just looking for an argument for arguments sake. So I’ll put it in layman’s terms for you: since this is a video game, there are certain attributes you can use to determine a favorable match up. Don’t get caught up in righty vs righty or lefty vs lefty.

Case in point; Kiestin Hiura is a right handed batter who absolutely rakes against right handed pitching (80 + power), but couldn’t hit a lefty to save his life. Am I going to bring in a righty to face him just because the old rule of thumb says to do so? No I am going to leave (or bring in depending on who’s hitting behind him) in the lefty where I have an extremely reduced chance of giving up a home run.

              Better?

Man, I don't know what's "fun" about enduring another commercial while yet another reliever trots out to face one or two batters. I don't like when the League forces these sorts of changes via rules, but if that's what it takes to keep the game moving, I like it. The only way I'd be in favor of removing the rule is if they would force the teams to speed up the pitching change. Manager comes to top step or whatever and signals the change, reliever jogs out (no walking), takes the ball and starts pitching immediately (no warmups; he's done this before). Outside of that, you've got to keep the game moving. Also, a pitcher shouldn't be in the majors if he can't get 3 outs, but that's another story.

I too have had much better results with bunting this year, mainly due to the defense not throwing to second on close plays.

I never really understood the concept of letting the receiver take time to warm up when he comes in to the game. That's what the bullpen is for......

So you use an anomaly to prove your broken theory? Sure there’s guy that hit the same handedness well……. But overall right on right or left on left puts the hitter at a disadvantage both in the game and in real life…….. the attributes in the game directly reflect that……… I have no idea why u are confused on this……. U originally said it didn’t matter if it’s a right on right matchup because it’s not real baseball but the attributes in the game are formulated to mimic this disadvantage……..

I've heard that it helps them orient themselves by throwing some pitches to the actual catcher they'll be working to and kind of "settle in" or something, but, as a fan, I just don't care. They've done this so many times, I'm sure they'd be alright without it.

I've also heard they like to get used to pitching from the actual mound before pitching to live batters.

Yeah it all makes sense but its not really necessary. And I'm an old baseball guy. I like the little things that speed up the game

It takes a reliever less than 100 seconds to throw all of his warmup pitches. Is it really that hard to sit through? lol

Fair enough. I hear ya. Its more about the whole process. Manager calls time slow walk to the mound. Takes the ball and the reliever jogs in from the pen. They meet at the mound then the catcher goes back to behind the plate, and they proceed to throw more warm-ups. Then, do that again multiple times in one inning. That's all I'm saying.

Actually.....there are multiple reasons....but one people don’t usually think about is getting the mound the way he wants it. Every pitcher digs holes in different spots. Every pitcher has their quirks of filling in some spots and making his own spots. I know, sounds kinda nuts.....but baseball players are creatures of habit and creatures of wanting it there way on the mound or in the box etc. So it gives a new pitcher a chance to “settle in” with the catcher, the situation, the mound, the crowd, the moment and also gives the manager a chance to talk to his pitcher and catcher about the upcoming batter/batters and maybe discuss a specific strategy vs the hitter they are about to face and the pitcher may throw several pitches he wants to make sure he nails during that AB.
