Is it common in real life for players to be late on fastballs 95 and over?

So I recently upped the difficulty to Hall of Fame because I just started to feel like All Star was just too easy averaging 5 to 10 runs a game. HoF definitely feels more realistic and I’m seeing a lot more variation in gameplay and gameplay scenarios. But the pitch speed is notch higher. Anything over 95 and I simply can’t get timing good unless I pretty much guess it right. I do think with practice I’ll get better.

I was just wondering if it’s usually the case in real life. I sometime see hitters nail and fastball at 97 or 98. But I wonder if it’s often. It’s pretty hard to do it in the show using zone hitting

Ummm.. sure it's common , but it's also uncommon at the same time. They're the best baseball players in the world, and by no means is anybody perfect. That said, as far as the game goes, if you want to get as close to real life pitch speeds as possible try playing on legend with max pitch speed sliders, if nothing just for fun. Pro tip: it's still slower than real life.

As you said, you will get better with practice, but there's also no shame in lowering the pitch speed if you need to. I've been playing The Show since the beginning and still need to drop the fastball speed down a notch. Not everyone is blessed with amazing reflexes or eyes and we aren't getting any younger, so it's nice we have the flexibility to adjust the game accordingly.

I play on Legend and it usually takes me an inning or two to really get the pitch speed down when it comes to flamethrowers. It's hard as all hell.

With practice you'll definitely get better at it
