Guys/gals, This thread is gonna be featured on the OS front page.

I just wrote an article about it. Might come out tomorrow, but my guess is Monday. So keep an eye out.

Thanks for the great thread, Houston.

But it proves nostalgia can be way way overrated in terms of gameplay. I can’t even think of playing 99% of those PS2/XBOX sports games much anymore.
loved me some High Heat, specifically the last couple years, though it is (or was) the Butterface of baseball video games lol

I stopped playing video games around 1990 but Madden 99 is the game that brought me back to video games for keeps, so 4 or 5 years ago I tried to replay 99 and was going to complete a season. but I didn't even make it to halftime of the first game. I could make do with some ps3 games right now, if I had to, but ps1/ps2, I think 20-30 minutes a month is the most I could stand. except for Metal Gear Solid on the original PlayStation. wish they could all hold up as well as MGS

44 here! Love The Show and wish games were this in depth when I was 15 and had all day to play. Now, sneaking in time early in the morning before the family is awake, or late at night.

Enjoy all reflecting on High Heat and ASB. But, for us long time sports gamers in our 40s+, any memories of Hardball? Two teams, and skills were set based on your spot in the order. I still have dreams of my catcher Mora coming through!

Intellivison! Yes! Home of the first studio and halftime show in a game. Plus, epic title names then.. like football, hockey and basketball.

I spent countless hours playing Baseball Stars on Nintendo, building all-star teams. Then to Tony LaRussa Baseball and Harball 3 on pc ( I think I still have all the stats saved somewhere for the many seasons I’ve played). Played a bit of Triple Play 99, lots of High Heat 2001 to 2004 on pc, MVP 2004 on ps2 and MVP 2005 on pc (which remains for me one the best baseball game ever made).

I moved to the Show series starting with 2008 or 2009. I hope to keep playing for another 45 years.

The older I get, the older someone needs to be for me to think of them as "old", lol. That's partially due to my own self and my perceptions, but also the fact that my parents generation (they're nearing 70) aren't elderly and broken down at this point in their lives like my grandparents were at the same age.
Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.

I never in my lifetime thought I would see such amazing games like we have today, I have been playing the " Show " since 2011, the realism in these games is unbelievable , I am 68 years young, retired and still love and play video games.

I know it is pretty amazing huh? I mean I just dont think the younger generation really gets it. There were NO such thing as a video game not that long ago, like less than 50 years ago. Some of us have literally seen the entire lifespan of this industry. In my life span we have gone from Zork to The Witcher 3. We have gone from Pong to MLB The Show and NBA2k. It really is incredible to watch an industry come into existence and grow the way it has.

World series baseball 2k3. Pre 2k sports days back when Sega still published sports games. I gotta say for it's time this game was impressive.

Surprisingly Barry Bonds was in the game!

I'll be 32 years old in October and my earliest memory of baseball games go back to 1994 on the SEGA Genesis. My first game was MLBPA Baseball.

Over the years I played the 989 baseball titles(MLB 99 and MLB 2000 were my favorites).

From there I moved on to High Heat Baseball.

04 and 05 of course I was playing the MVP baseball series (MVP Baseball 05 is the GOAT!!!!!) I also had MVP 06 college baseball.

After the MVP series ended I made the jump the MLB the show 06 and never turned back. The last 3 years or so I have dialed back on playing it as much but it's always a day 1 cop for me. Hopefully we'll get an even better game on the new consoles

48 in July and what a wild ride this thread has been. Starting with Intellivision and Atari 2600, moving onto Colecovision and all the Nintendo games moving through to now.

Probably my first game was the Coleco head to head baseball game. My Mom always raising Cain because 2 9 volt batteries lasted no time.

Really enjoying 21 now on the PS5 even after many of the changes.

For real. The jump in realism is ridiculous. I played the heck out of the original RBI baseball on the NES and it boggles the mind when I see what's out now.

Still miss the hit power and you're playing right away though.

It's most certainly, "don't know what you've got" for people who didn't grow up seeing this all happen. People complain when something isn't realistic but I can remember the NBA Lives of the Genesis where the computer would have 80 points and the center would pretty much have all of them, regardless of who the center was. Freaking Olden Polynice would have 80 points! The center would just dribble the whole time, do the spin away from my guy easily, and then score. Was frustrating to play against.
