Re: How old are you, MLB the Show fan?

I'm 36. Grew up a Braves fan playing the first Griffey SNES game. Moved onto All-Star Baseball, then MVP. MLB 2k7 was the first game I bought for my 360. Played the 2k series until it got discontinued, even did some jersey modding the last couple games on PC. Played the first two Super Mega Baseball games. Since I'm an Xbox player and could never afford to have both consoles, this is my first MLB game since the last 2k game on PC. Having a blast with it.

When I went to my first game at Yankee Stadium the Mets were a new team!
2 yrs later went to my first Met Gm and they had a perfect gm pitched against them- Ive been a Met fan ever since. Played Statis Pro Baseball board game in the 80s.
Was playing Baseball on an Atari whenever I wanted before there were kids in my life. Then I
Played Bases Loaded 1-3 on my kids NES and have played on any other platform they have had- if they allowed me time to use them!
They are grown and I have my own PS4.
      Still playing

I would do damage with Oko at the plate and my bro wanted none of that.

My side passion baseball game was Baseball Stars on NES. I created so many teams and leagues in that game. My own little baseball universe. Though, I still this day never threw better than a 5-hitter in that game. It would drive me crazy. To throw a 4-hitter was like having a perfect game for me… sadly it never happened.

        42 here

Virtually identical games to Skyflames post. As well as Ken Griffey Jr Baseball, Bo Jackson Baseball and Little League Baseball on NES, tho I gotta say Baseball Stars was mine and my (now 40 yr old) brothers game. The ridiculous rosters we created are now cringe worthy lol. I also recall many hours of MLBPA Baseball on SNES. And Baseball Simulator 1.000 too. If there were more I'm sure me and my brother played them but these I remember.

But those days, games were fun. (Feelin like the old guy who walked 72 miles uphill both ways in the snow in June to school sayin that.)

First MLBTS was 06. I tend to geek out for most of if not all baseball games possible lol.

My 6 year old son and I were playing Baseball Stars over the weekend. He likes the monster team.

Did anyone else play Sportstalk Baseball on the Sega Genesis? First baseball game, if i recall correctly, that featured commentating.

And like the above poster, I am a sucker and flip out over baseball games. If there has been a baseball video game made, its likely in my collection, good or bad

Re: How old are you, MLB the Show fan?

72 here - and have been playing baseball games since the late '50s.

Started with simple playing card deck type games but was one of the early purchasers of the Strat-O-Matic desk top game in '63 --- was hooked from that moment.

Tried and enjoyed many other desk top baseball games such as APBA, Negamco, Pursuit the Pennant, Pennant Chase etc. during the '60s but was totally into Strat-O-Matic and in fact packed it in my duffle bag when I went overseas in '71 while in the Marines. Actually started programming a true computer baseball on an IBM S360 in Cobol while overseas and had a good bit done before returning to the States with all my punch cards & reels of magnetic tape with my created game on it. So all those that read that the first computer baseball game ever created was by those two guys from Cal Berkeley on a PD11 really doesn't hold water with me. Unfortunately for me, once I returned home things didn't go as I had hoped and I eventually lost all my stuff in an apartment fire.

First computer based game I played was in the mid '80s on the Commodore 64 (My wife discovered for me) titled simply "Computer Baseball" as it was the predecessor to the Tony LaRussa Series & it's offshoot Old Time Baseball.

First ventured into Modding was on the C64 with "Computer Baseball" and it was an Octal based system game versus Hexi-Decimal which I was familiar with because I had been programming on IBM Systems since '69. I also had to Mod it down to the machine code level in Octal which was a real challenge but worth the effort.

I was really into Old Time Baseball on the PC in those days and it became my Go-To game although I still enjoyed Strat-O-Matic on occasions.

Stayed on PC Baseball games through the '80s & '90s buying any an all I knew about if for nothing else just to see how they were designed. The one that became my Go-To game was EA's MVP Baseball 2003-2005 where I Modded a whole lot with a team we called "Total-Classics".

First ventured in the Console Baseball game arena around 2013 with MLB The Show. Been with it ever since. All though I stayed with Strat-O-Matic for > 20+ years & MVP 2005 for 10+ years - I am thinking MLB The Show will surpass them both --- at least I am hoping so but my runway is getting awfully short these days.

One other notable game which I enjoyed on & off since I first discovered it was APBA's Broadcast Blast --- off take of the APBA computer based game but with Ernie Harwell doing all the Play-By-Play announcing just as if you were listening to a game on the Radio. Really unique and Fun with Historic Teams.

Last note --- I have never played an actual game but enjoy the CPU vs CPU experience --- wouldn't even know how to play with a joystick !

I played Sports Talk Baseball till my hands fell off. World Series Baseball was another franchise I played all the time. And the Hardball series as well. I'd always edit all the names on all the teams in Hardball so that they matched real life.

Same I loved World Series and Hardball was another amazing title. And like you, I would edit all the names. Such a great game.

Before I moved to the MLB The Show series, I loved the All-Star Baseball series. I would create the Louisville Horsemen and play my home games at Whittaker Grounds (I believe that was the name)

Such a great game. Kept track of milestones for players on a page, something I dearly wish SDS would implement, and advance, in the MLBTS series.

Also, who didn't enjoy having a player miss a game or few because of diarrhea
