36, my fav game as a kid was MVP baseball and I loved the college baseball version they had…… was always a Nintendo and Xbox guy so played the show for the first time probably in 06/07 and was in love…… only play 2/3 video games and they’re strictly sim sports games as I play because of the connection with the sport as I’ve grown older and don’t play anymore

I'm 35. I was never a huge baseball fan. I follow my Braves but that's about it. I did have Ken Griffey Jr. for the N64. Back in 2010 I was deployed to Afghanistan and the MWR (Morale, Welfare and Recreation) center had a PS3 and a few games. I found myself playing franchise in The Show 10 or 09, whatever one was available a lot. I ordered myself a PS3 and The Show then and had it waiting for me when I got home. Since then The Show has been a staple of my gaming experience.

Re: How old are you, MLB the Show fan?

I'm 47 and I have fond memories from a lot of baseball games.

My first was a handheld mattel baseball game.

Next was Coleco baseball but my friend knew a cheat that made him disappear when running to first and appeared at home plate for auto runs. I hated that game lol.

Baseball Superstars on NES changed my life and I also liked Bases Loaded as it was the first game that replicated a broadcast with the main view being behind the pitcher.

I played RBI a lot. The Bash Brothers were a big deal at that time.

I was more of a Genesis guy and liked Triple play and World Series Baseball but did play Ken Griffey on SNES

MVP05 is still the king even though MLB the Show has since made better games. It really was just a perfect game. Game modes, minor leagues, owner mode, mini games, all just perfection. I still listen to the soundtrack on spotify.

It blows my mind how far we've come.

This is a great thread. I love seeing 65, 74 year olds talking about video games. I often feel old at 47 but I know I will enjoy playing and talking about games for the rest of my life and its great to see others who are the same.

What? You mean you did not have to walk uphill in both directions. You had it easy.

I'm 43, so I'm at the tail end of the most common group, it seems. Its nice to be a part of a gaming community where I'm not the creepy old guy!

My first baseball video game was on the Atari 2600. From there, I played a ton of RBI baseball on the NES, and base wars was fun as a kid. On the SNES, Ken Griffey Jr Baseball was a huge jump in realism and I absolutely loved that game. Techmo Super Baseball was a lot of fun too.

On the PS1 and PS2, I jumped around a lot between Triple Play, High Heat, and the games from 989 that preceded The Show. But I've played The Show through basically the entire PS3 and PS4 eras, and plan to continue with the PS5 in time as well.

I’m a couple weeks shy of 54. First baseball game for me was Griffey Jr on N64. Been playing the Show every year since 2007.

Re: How old are you, MLB the Show fan?

I turned 48 earlier this month. Good to see I'm not the oldest one here

I remember playing Atari Real Sports Baseball on the 2600.

Then it was on to the Nintendo and MLB. The computer couldn't hit the curve, so I threw no-hitters all day. But what I loved about that game was it had all the real teams in their home whites and road grays. I'd bribe my brother into playing a World Series with me just so I could see the teams change uniforms over the course of the series.

After that, it was Bases Loaded 3 and trying to knock out a full 130-game season. If I remember right, 75 wins clinched the division and you went to the playoffs at that point.

The Genesis brought Tony La Russa Baseball and then World Series Baseball. La Russa had some top prospects. I remember being excited seeing Javy Lopez and Ryan Klesko on the Braves. And WS brought the behind the batter batting view with real stadium backdrops - revolutionary at the time. In terms of nostalgia, WSB 95 might still be my favorite game of all time.

When the original PlayStation debuted, I was so excited for Sony's MLB Pennant Race. I annoyed the manager at my local GameStop asking about it. It kept getting delayed over and over again, so I finally just picked up Triple Play. I think MLB 98 was my first Sony game and I loved it. I think most people still played TP at the time, but I played MLB every year from 98-00.

In 2001, I was off to the PS2 and Sony didn't have a baseball game for it. So back to Triple Play for me. I loved TP 2001. Went with High Heat for a year, then back to World Series Baseball before finally setting on MVP. Like a lot of people, I loved MVP 05.

I left the PS2 and Sony for Xbox in 2004. In 2007, I tried MLB 2K and hated it. So when MLB The Show 07 with David Wright on the cover released in May of 2007, I ditched the 360 and went back to Sony and the PS3. It was an incredibly impulsive decision, but it's worked out well. I've had every version of MLBTS since then.

44 here and RBI on NES is the first baseball game I can remember playing and play it I did.

Can't remember the year but the first Show I remember playing is when Joe Mauer was on the cover in back to back years.

                                51 years young here.

Atari 2600 Homerun was my first baseball video game and it sucked balls.

But then came the Intellivision and MLB Baseball and it was awesome for it’s time!! 9 guys on the field OMG!!!

I have been on every console you can imagine and have played through all the evolution of console sports games and they have never been better than we have today.

MLB The Show is the greatest IMO. Love this series dearly. Gameplay is top notch and captures the game better than any sports game ever made. Bar none.
