How old are you, MLB the Show fan?

54 here and still going strong in fact now that my kids are older I have more time at night to game. Been playing since Atari 2600. Baseball has always been my favorite sports video game to play. God I logged so many hours in to Tommy Lasorda baseball. I still play it once in a while

      53. Started with handheld blips of light, then Atari realsports baseball, through Hardball, High Heat, and MVP on the Genesis then PlayStation, before settling in on MLB The Show every year through 2020.

Also for years played NHL and Madden alongside but dropped those years ago. Playing a bit of MLB The Show 21 on game pass on my Series X, may pick it up later for my PS5 when it’s on sale. Not so sure of 21. Still playing my ‘19 Chise in ‘20 on my PS5. The Show is the only game I play.

Awesome thread. I love reading everyone's stories.

I am 40 and Super Action Baseball on Colecovision was the first I remember playing, but the NES era was when I really fell in love with baseball games. I didn't have a ton of money growing up so I wasn't able to try every game out there, but I was lucky enough to get my hands on RBI and Bases Loaded and I would play both of those for hours and hours. Bases Loaded had the camera behind the pitcher and I was blown away with how realistic it felt at the time. There was no built-in way to save your season, so you had to write down a code after every game if you wanted to resume. I remember one summer having a notebook full of codes and just having a blast.

After the strike of '94, I remember being so bummed and I lost interest in baseball as I had also just finished my last season of Little League. I became distracted with girls, partying, and skateboarding, and unfortunately missed out on like 3 generations of great baseball games as I was too busy playing stuff like Mortal Kombat, Goldeneye, and Tony Hawk instead (what a fool I was, right?). It wasn't until I got a PSP and happened to stumble upon MLB The Show 06 that my love for baseball was reignited. I felt like a kid all over again and was once again blown away. This series single-handedly brought me back to the love of the game and I am forever grateful.

35 here. Wow, 0 in the 21 and under group. Wonder if it's more that they're just not in this forum or they're not into baseball at all. Maybe they're in the Show sub-Reddit showing off their sick nasty Diamond Dynasty cards or practicing their bodacious bat flips.

This is so awesome. Just turned 46 and I remember starting out with the old HandHeld Mattel baseball game, Intellivision Major League baseball and theStar League Baseball on the Commodore 64.

One of my favourite memories growing up was heading to Calgary to visit our friends up there. They lived right next to a very small mall, but in that mall there was a 12 game arcade that had the best video game. The game was called World Series Baseball and on the left side you had the bat. It was a little metal bat that you would pull back and let go to mimic the swing. On the right side you had a pitchers stick where you could throw pitches with. You could adjust speed, curve, etc. My brother an I would easily each play a roll of quarters (a game cost $0.25, or $0.50 if you both played). Our friends weren't real baseball fans, but even they enjoyed to game. Those days are memories I won't ever forget. I still remember the day we went up there for a visit and walked into the arcade and it was no longer there, my brother an I were crushed.

I’m not shocked at all that this site as a whole (and even more specifically Baseball) is quite “older” than most people would imagine gamers being. I like it though, feels more like a community instead of people trying to farm internet points.

I’m 30, first baseball game I can remember playing was a Ken Griffey Jr. one on SNES. I forget the name (maybe it was winning run?) but I remember my dad giving up and just buying it from Blockbuster because I would rent it over and over again. I know I still have it somewhere, Blockbuster sticker and all.

Just the simple button input. I essentially bat in The Show the same way that I did back in RBI baseball on the NES, lol.

I'm afraid someone at Sony will see this thread and realise to get the under 25 demographic (especially the under 20) we'll probably end up with a TikTok mode added for Show 22

50 years old hear and if the games you referred to are the same as I remember, I can remember both like it was yesterday. I remember thinking that the Coleco Vision baseball was the most realistic version of video game baseball that would ever be invented, because if I remember correctly, it was the first 3D version ever developed and you could control all fielders and runners individually. Plus, the Coleco Vision super action controller was incredible. Boy, how times have changed...

                            Just turned 36

My first baseball game I got into was Ken Griffey Jr baseball on snes. Being in the pre internet days, I didn't know there was any other Baseball games, so I played that until I got a N64 when I was 12. From there I got hooked on the All Star Baseball series. Living in Denver at the time, and seeing Larry Walker on the cover, it was the best of both worlds. I continued playing that series until its 2004 release, and snuck in MVP 05 [emoji16]

After MVP, I got a ps2, and played The Show 06. The rest is history. I have played each and every game in this series since 06.

I have 5 kids, ranging from 14 to 3. 4 boys, and 1 girl. They ALL play softball currently, as I live in a small city that doesn't offer much in terms of actual baseball leagues. The one they do have is always full, and costs a fortune.

I got you beat by a couple months. I'll be 25 later this year. First baseball game I played was MVP '05 on the GameCube. Then 2k8 on the Wii. Moved onto PS3 with The Show in 2012 and played every game for the PS3 era. Took a break during the PS4 era as I was playing 2 sports in college and didn't have time or money for video games for a while, but I'm back at it for the next gen and enjoying it as much as ever. Pretty cool to see some more "experienced" gamers fill up this thread. We'll see if I ever grow out of it or am still mashing buttons when I am "experienced" too!!
