Getting more STEALING?

I have franchise started. i'm using 30 team. I'm letting the computer do the baserunning cause I'm HORRIBLE at stealing.


My question is: How can I get the computer to steal more with MY team??

I mean through 30 games Ozzie Albies has 5 steals that the computer did.

You really cant. You gave up all that letting the CPU run for you. If you need tips on stealing. I usually preload the steal, hold L1, and right when the pitcher is making his first motion, I let go of L1

Also, that is above pace for Ozzies career... he has never stolen more than 20 bags in a year

Don't think you can do much with the CPU.

Stealing is fairly easy even with players that don't have just blazing speed.

Once I figured out not to not take the extra lead and play a little cat and mouse before going it became much easier. Typically if your runner has a decent steal attribute they slide step on the first 2 pitches so I usually avoid going then. Different pitchers are quicker to the plate then others so you have to be mindful of that as well.

It’s something I’m always frustrated with along with bunting. You can always use the QUICK MANAGE option. If you’re batter has 2 strikes on him it might lead to a caught stealing AND a strike out. Have to weigh your options/chances.

Even with auto base running you can manually steal if you want.

This is what I was going to say.

I also play with auto-baserunning and you can override the CPU with the normal steal inputs. You can do the same with regular baserunning, tagging up, etc. The CPU will act as it sees fit, but a USER input can override it.

Took me awhile to master it, but it is a big help.

What Ryanreeser just said in terms of the “how to” steal is absolutely golden and exactly what I do as well. The other key is stealing in the right counts. From a ton of experience I am going to tell you the absolute best steal counts in this game ranked in order:

2-0
3-1
3-0
1-2

Rarely if ever will the CPU try a pick off or pitch out (except 1-2 they still sometimes may attempt a pitch out as well as slide step or pick off) and ever use the slide step on those counts.

0-2 is dangerous to steal in this game. They typically pitch out a lot or attempt some pick offs. Slide steps are almost certain on 0-2 as well. Just warning you guys!!

Raise the slider for steal frequency and ability. I have both set to 6 and I like it there. Still many times super fast guys won't attempt, but definitely more often.

What's the best thing to do if you see the slide step coming?

Should you be swinging? Should you always take it? Should you treat it like any other pitch?
