Depends entirely on the batter, the count, the inning, the score, etc. -

Re: Hitting type
With directional hitting I very rarely if ever use power the swing. I use contact swings all the time with pitchers and I use contact for position players when I have 2 strikes. Sometimes I use contact with a guy in scoring position and all other times I use the normal swing. Also for an example, if a certain guy is facing a lefty and he has terrible lefty attributes or visa versa then I'll use contact.YouTube: MLB The Show 21 Atlanta Braves FranchiseComment

I use normal swing 100% of the timeI can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Hitting type
feel. it's a rough estimate. some games I never need to bunt. I rarely use Power or Contact swing either.
I only use power swing when I need a sac fly and a low power/high contact batter is hitting. I know he already has enough natural contact built in and I want to make sure he gets a pitch deep enough into the outfield
I take the opposite approach in the same scenario with a high power/low contact batter. I know he already has enough natural power built into his swing, I just want to make sure he makes contact with the ballOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: Hitting type
I used to use power swing and push up when I thought that a high fastball was coming, and it worked really well for years. When you timed it right, it lead to a lot more homers. But somewhere along the way over the last five or six years, it stopped being nearly as effective, and so I stopped.
Now I just swing with the X button every time unless I'm bunting, and I don't use any directional hitting. I don't get many of the tape measure 500 foot home runs any more, but I get a LOT more check swings even on pitches above the zone, which leads to more balls being called, more walks, and fewer strikeouts.Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.Comment
