Do you guys know how many flyouts and pop ups there are per mlb game? I can’t seem to find that number, or smart enough to use math to figure it out lol

Guess SDS didn't tell the truth about adding night games to created stadiums. EA got roasted for moving a similar size update to October.

Well EA never said the update was coming out in September. They said they were "targeting" September. People just hear what they wanna hear. As far as adding night games to created stadiums, there has to be a reason why we haven't seen this fixed yet. Perhaps it's not something that is easily fixable without completely breaking that feature. I do wish SDS would be a bit more transparent about that one.

Well SDS specifically said night games were coming in "future patch" back in April. My point is EA got roasted for not being that specific.

Yeah, at this point I don't think we will see night games in created stadiums this year. To me, it just seems like they'd be far into developing next year's game. Hopefully they fix it for next year

About 6.5 flyballs and just under 2 pop ups per team. In addition, around 5 line drives and 11 ground balls.

If they are busy developing mlb 22 right now then it better be worth it. Lol

Still can’t believe they messed with so much this late in the cycle that it messed up dynamic difficulty and haven’t fixed it yet. Unless they had and I didn’t know. Usually in thiis late in the cycle it is just minor changes if anything at all.

Thanks man, does the 6.5 flyballs count foul balls? Even for line drives do those only count in play or fouls also?

                    Thanks!

It includes foul balls that result in an out or an errors. I just went by how many "Batted Ball Events" each team had a game and the percentages of those events.

I don't know of any stats regarding ball flight on the other foul balls. There's on average 26 foul balls per play per team (as opposed to around 25 balls in play) if that helps. I'd imagine, but this is just going off of years of watching and not any stats, that popups would be much more common on fouls than on balls in play.

I'm on an Xbox One and I've always noticed that the game (especially the crowd) sounds bad on a headset compared to even just my soundbar.

Thanks , wow that confirms just how off the games numbers are. There are way too many fly balls and pop ups. Flyballs are at least double the average per game

                            Wouldn't that make sense though?

I don't have any data on this so take it as one guy's opinion, but I doubt many people are playing with a real-life pitcher's mindset (of mixing up their spots, pitch choices, etc) and instead are pitching more to the on-screen strike zone, leaving themselves open to batters making much more contact than in real life.

Less selective pitching = More contact = More solid contact = More fly balls

                            Maybe?

I played a game to see. So we're clear, the numbers in real life baseball don't include fouls (unless they're outs/errors), but with the in game pitcher/hitter analysis tools for The Show, fouls are included (so you can't include the blue circles in your count).

I played the Cardinals (CPU) as the Braves. They won 6-2. I struck out a ton (it was late when I played, so I was a little off tbh). For popups, STL had 2, I had 1 (for a combined 6% compared to MLB's 6.9%). For Flyballs, STL had 4 and I had 7 (that's 22% in game compared to 25.6% irl). For Linedrives, STL had 9 to my 4 (for 26% against irl 23.6%). And for groundballs, STL had 16 and I had 7 (which makes for 46%, really close to MLB's 44.6%). Granted, that's just one game, and I'm using sliders. But that's actually pretty good.

On the other hand, even with foul tendency at 0 for both teams, I still got 32% foul balls. Real life is 28%, which isn't too off, but at 0 I feel like still being over shouldn't be a thing. They need to tone that down a bit.

But that's against the CPU. And I don't use zone (I use Pure Analog). If you're talking online, yeah, it's way too easy to get the ball in the air. A lot of average to below average hitters have a heavy tendency to drop their PCI which results in more balls in the air. Good players are often trying to get under the ball. But most players are shooting for home runs. They make up a much bigger portion of the offense in the show than they do even in real life. Throwing the ball knee high but in the middle of the plate against a human using zone is, in my experience, more dangerous than down the middle because of how easy it is to get that pitch in the air.

That's a big part of it. If you look at DeGrom, for example, everyone loves that high and in fastball to righties. And if you make contact, it's normally a pop up or (best case). Whereas if you look at his pitch locations on statcast, he's almost never throwing fastballs to righties inside, and he's living with fastballs all over the outer half and sliders and changeups below the zone on the outer half.

But because the odds of missing badly with the ball leaking over the heart of the plate or coming in to hit the batter are so small, there's no downside to living off pitches that in real life would be super risky.
