Re: What’s The Beef With Diamond Dynasty?

My issue was DD mode is the saturation about it. It’s All they talk about in the trailers and promos and marketing “ get your tokens here” tokens give away here there everywhere!

It’s kind a marvel movie compared to a low budget great movie (mass for example) that no one talks about, it makes me roll my eyes every time.

It’s a fortnite mode DD basically. Where it’s suppose to be addictive to bore the person grudging so much they pay real money to get the card they want and ya designed that way.

or a COD Game because that is where the money is at.. it doesn’t matter if it’s good or bad but people love the mode and pay money for it. Because it’s “all the talk”

Maybe being 40 now I’m just getting old. But this is the gen z generation of ADHD

Re: What’s The Beef With Diamond Dynasty?

I like that the messages have been respectful so far in this thread, although there were at least two instances of people describing DD in a way that intentionally or unintentionally insult the players who enjoy the mode.

The mistaken assumption that DD fans are somehow lesser baseball fans because of the mode they choose to play is ridiculous.

Do some people spend money? Yes. But this is an option. I got every card I wanted this year (best version of all the Cardinals) and a ton more beyond that and never spent a cent beyond the purchase price. I did not speculate on cards getting upgrades, nor did I flip cards. I simply played the content that they provided to us. I also never played a single online game.

As for being old and blaming it on kids with ADHD that is just not correct? How do I know? I am 57 years old and don't have ADHD.

It was more a figure of speech. The iPad era

I know it’s “ optional” but it’s designed to burn you out to the point tired of grinding so you do pay. That’s what those modes are all about it’s true facts along with MUT modes they are killing sports games. But it’s what’s making $$$ it’s. Mobile game line FarmVille

So I don't think the idea is that "not one 57" year old plays DD. But I can probably assume also that not many 12 year olds are playing 162 game realistic franchises. My son and his friends look at me crazy for playing ANY game offline. lol I get called a loser everyday for it.

Exactly my point this isn’t our era, it’s like reading a book to learn or “ googling”

Remember all the talk that is baseball is for old people to watch and it’s boring for young people. So they keep trying to change the rules and piss off is old guys!!?? So DD mode is made for then

Re: What’s The Beef With Diamond Dynasty?

I'm a strictly offline player but I still get tons of enjoyment out of DD. It is by far my most played mode every year. There really is a ton of variety available and it can really keep me invested throughout the year in a way that Franchise and Rtts simply never have. And by the way I have never spent a single dime to do so and have never even felt a need to. It is by FAR the best ultimate team mode in sports games.

But I REALLY REALLY wish it would stop butting it's head into other modes. What they did to RTTS this year in order to fuse it with the DD CAP absolutely ruined it. It no longer feels like a realistic career and now feels way too videogamey, when in the past it made way more logical sense in a realistic way.

Another example is March to October. That mode seems tailor made for me, as someone who gets bored of franchises fairly quickly and just wants to play a reasonable amount of games without leaving the majority of a season up to simulation. But they ruin it by tying DD rewards to it, meaning I have no choice but to use default opening day rosters for the entire year with no options for updated rosters, custom rosters, or even a fantasy draft. It's a mode I play once a year in the beginning and never touch again. And I really wish that weren't the case.

So while I don't dislike DD at all I can definitely understand people's frustration with it. It's great on its own but it seems to be slowly infecting the rest of the game.

                HOWEVER

Just because you dislike it and want to play a realistic franchise instead of DD does not make you some "real fan" and everyone else is just an ADHD riddled Fortnite teenager that can't possibly care about real baseball like us "adults". There's a real air of superiority coming from users on this forum over DD players that is downright embarrassing. Everyone is playing this game out of a love for baseball and like to enjoy it in different ways and there's absolutely no reason to gatekeep.

Bingo, I think this is the only thing we are contesting. I think 10 years ago everyone was playing it for the love of baseball. I can't say IMO that DD is something especially for people who love baseball.

I mean isn't the whole idea of the mode to make it an easy barrier of entry and appeal to a broader audience. Like my wife cannot pick up franchise and manage a team. She can DEF click DD and flip some cards.

ONCE AGAIN, this not to say there are ZERO diehard baseball fans who play DD but I would argue there aren't many diehard ppl running a realistic franchise. And I have played DD and it was fairly easy imo because I didn't feel like I even played ppl who knew baseball. Id have the hardest time with ppl who scammed like having all 99 players and bunting every play or using like an Edward Cabrera who was super hard to hit.

my heart belongs to franchise. I've given DD, RTTS, HR Derby, March To October, Play Now, PostSeason Mode, Practice Mode and every other mode that has come down the pike a go. they're all nice side distractions to be dabbled in from time to time. but Franchise is what makes me come back year in and year out. so it's not really what I have against DD but that franchise is my main course. and if I feel like someone is trying to replace my cheesesteak with cheesecake, I'm gonna let 'em know:

My point is that someone being more of a "diehard fan" of baseball doesn't make them better than a more casual fan. Everyone likes what they like to the degree that they do and acting like you are somehow "superior" to someone else because they don't enjoy that thing the exact same way as you is only going to drive them away from that thing. I think….there might be some hope for MTO this cycle being far more customizable and detaching from rewards if you choose to do so.

I think there’s been a lot of fair level-headed critiques here. Mark me down as someone who finds DD to be fine but also wishes sufficient resources were being pushed to Franchise mode too. And here’s what I’m betting will happen this year. MLB and the MLBPA will agree on expanded playoffs but that will not be replicated until MLBTS23. A forward thinking and well-equipped dev group would be spending time now building out the platform to handle 5,6,7,8 team formats and then plug or patch in whichever is eventually decided on. I’d love to be wrong but I put the chances of that happening over at SDS at virtually nil. And that sums it up really, there’s lots of things that could be done to improve Franchise mode, and yet year after year, very little changes. I’m guessing we will have the same mediocre sim engine again, even though something like stat sliders would allow the community to do the tuning for SDS. It’s these sorts of examples of neglect that bother the franchise community.

No one is saying they are 'superior' but would you see a DD only player play OTTP baseball?? you can't deny it.

the casual fan will go for the Mainstream things because that is 'what is being talked about around the world' which is always DD as it seems to be 90% of the promotion by SDS the other 10-% is gameplay. and usually at the end it is 'and btw we added this small upgrade to franchise for franchise players'

this is the issue I have. if all modes were treated evenly I wouldn't have a problem with DD mode. it's not about 'that I am better because I play franchise' it is because the saturation into DD.

I feel the same way about movies tired of marvel and star wars saturation everywhere. this and that but true masterpieces of movies get ignored
