Re: Universal DH confirmed for MLB 22

just blame the CBA and MLB for all this, you would think with NL teams actually having players for DH only like the Phillies that it would be in play now.

in a way I hope it is DH only rule in the game so we only have to deal with 2 lineup screens but I kinda want both options for classic rosters.. but make it that its only 2 lineups to worry about if the DH rule is on.. but that would be some work to get done with less time.

      expanded playoffs
probably having a extra roster spot or 2 for April
the stupid Ghost runner rule looks like coming back. so who knows if they have removed that or kept the toggle option on. either way it will be wrong if they make the rule happen only in the 10th innings. (god I despise this rule)
the 13 pitcher rule which screws the angels up with Ohtani which they have had in the game the last 2 years but MLB has not even enforced yet.

none of this is SDS fault of missing out being in the game. it's MLBs playing around with the rules and back flipping and changing them all the time

Looks like they just announced a new "Ohtani Rule" which allows 2-way players on days they pitch to stay in the lineup as a DH after they've been removed in the game. I imagine it's a bit to late to get it in the game at launch but it's a great rule in my opinion. It's just too bad I probably won't be able to use him the way the Angels will this year.

Now lets see if they make us wait a year for the new "Ohtani Rule" to be in the game. If a pitcher is hitting in the lineup he now remains in the game as DH after he is removed from pitching.

Id like to believe that Ohtani being the cover boy gives them extra incentive to get this in a patch as early as possible, but I imagine it's not a easy thing to fix.

yes the BS Ghost runner rule is back .. (and I bet it stays I don't believe for 1 second it is only for this year)

so lets hope SDS didn't remove that Toggle option and give us a choice to have it or not. I am gonna be pissed if they remove that option

I know many didn't like the 2nd base runner rule in extra innings, but I think it's great for the game and THE GAME. So happy to see it back.

yeah hate it can't change my mind about it.

it's like the fake 60 game season not real baseball.

it just because a game of chance and a coin toss then actual skill.

ridiculous just because we lost 7 days of spring training means we need this stupid rule. 7 days makes no difference at all. it's a poor excuse. now a 3rd year with it I bet they will come out and bring it back for good next year thinking fans have accepted it. the rule can go to hell I hate tired games into the 9th now know fake baseball will happen.

Now we just gotta hope SDS didn't take the toggle option out to have it in or not.

I hope like the DH rule the option is there like last year to have it or not. to give us a choice. hopefully they didn't just kill the rule last week and just took it out and we have REAL extra innings games only. or vice versa. the option needs to be there like the DH.

I just wish MLB would have done it in incremental steps:
10th inning - runner on first
11th inning - runner on second
12th inning - runner on third

13th inning - runners on first & second
14th inning - runners on second & third
                    15th inning - bases loaded

I’m as diehard a baseball fan as they come and I lowkey like the extra innings rule. It makes extra innings more exciting right off the bat.

Worst part is an exciting bottom of the 9th inning to tie the game only to be followed with uneventful 10-13 innings until someone finally hits that homerun they’re all trying to hit.

Save the bullpen from being taxed for the next 2 weeks and let me go to bed

some explain to me how 7 days of 'less work' makes a difference here that taking out 'extra innings games' helps.. yet if we had the 7 days of MORE WORK. then it would be acceptable to have extra innings?

extra innings would make up for the 7 days missed in the end.

nah I am not accepting this BS from MLB about that at all. they just want to give fans a extra year of the BS for us to accept it by 2023 to get over it.

23 games went beyond 13 innings in the 2019 regular season alone. Since the rule change there has been 1 game that has went beyond that in 2020, and 2021 combined.

Why does hockey go 3v3 in a 5 minute period straight to a shootout? Why does the NBA and college basketball do a 5 minute session for their OT? Why does the NFL do 10 minutes instead of 15, or why does college football start every drive in the red zone? The juice just isn’t worth the squeeze in the regular season on so many levels.

why have overtime at all?? because we need a result for those that bet and people hate ties.

I would be more happy with a tie after 9 innings that a BS ghost runner rule. in Japan they have ties. both teams end in a tie it's fair not some coin toss game of chance it's predictable and boring. the old bunt and sac fly is it all takes now to get a runner over. there is no skill at all in it.

A tie is the worst of all 3. Whether its just a normal extra inning or with ghost runners both teams play by the same rules so its just as fair as anything else..

I hate the 'both teams play by the same rules' argument people did that with the 60 game season year there is no way Miami make the playoffs in 2020 with 162 games and Astros would not have finished under 500 in the playoffs. it is situations not rules.

it's like saying you call heads I call Tails we both play by the same rules what it falls on wins.

Your Ghost runner can be a fast runner or a slow when depending on the luck of the lineup in the 9th innings as well. it is a crapshoot. if they want to keep this BS rule in for good then allow 27 man rosters and teams can plan to have a Billy Hamilton just sit on the bench as your dedicated Ghost runner that never hits.
