it's like saying you call heads I call Tails we both play by the same rules what it falls on wins.

Your Ghost runner can be a fast runner or a slow when depending on the luck of the lineup in the 9th innings as well. it is a crapshoot. if they want to keep this BS rule in for good then allow 27 man rosters and teams can plan to have a Billy Hamilton just sit on the bench as your dedicated Ghost runner that never hits.

So do you prefer a 15 inning game ends with a 2nd baseman on the mound? Is that any less of a crapshoot?

Yeah because by then it becomes a game of strategy it is the managers fault or the pitching staff fault why they ran out of pitching in the 15 and a war of attraction. that yankees Cubs game that went 18 innings that time.

and how about game 7 of the world series in 2016 would you prefer to see that game end from a ghost runner?? or David Freeze getting a hit late because a ghost runner happened to be on base that wasn't earned?

now that the DH is full position for all 30 teams,
it's long overdue in the Show that the DH should be a selectable Primary Position,
though I dunno how I feel about whether it needs to be a selectable Secondary Position.
        thoughts?

Unless it is used for the CPU to have better lineup logic it's pretty useless having it as a position selection.

Right now the CPU just randomly picks a power guy a DH if other positions are filled as a generator doesn't factor in defense.

lineup logic is definitely the only real reason it should be there
I was thinking very few players, like maybe less than a handful, would be primary DH's, Nelson Cruz chief among them. that way if you pick blank as his secondary, you'd never see him on defense
as for secondary position, probably only Shohei would get that selection

The ghost runner doesn’t apply to the playoffs.

I would be more happy with a tie after 9 innings that a BS ghost runner rule. in Japan they have ties. both teams end in a tie it's fair not some coin toss game of chance it's predictable and boring. the old bunt and sac fly is it all takes now to get a runner over. there is no skill at all in it.

This is a poor take. With the extra inning rule it is far from a coin flip. If a pitcher makes their pitches they get out of an inning with zero runs and let’s their team win it in the next inning. That’s not a coin flip, that is determined by player skill. Feel like we didn’t see too many sac bunts->sac fly to win it last year (I could be wrong) but I feel like I saw a lot of big hits and 3 run innings which is more exciting than a tie but that’s just me

Actually no one is proposing it in the playoffs. That is quite the straw man argument. The game is played and managed differently number one, and there is already intrigue and great interest in the result of each game in the playoffs. This rule is simply to move the 162 along efficiently and create immediate strategy, intrigue, excitement, and more importantly a result.

How is it a crapshoot or equivalent to heads and tails coinflip? And we are really going to consider ties as an alternative? Really? After the baseball world lost their damn minds when the All-Star Game ended in a tie, thus introducing the stupid World Series home field advantage rule? Really?

If nothing else, the ghost runner invites strategy into a game that fans are clamoring is disappearing from the sport.

Runner on 2nd, with 0 outs.

Offensively do we bunt the runner over and try for sac fly? Do we try to rally for a big inning? If you're the home team and the shut the visiting team out in the top half of the inning does that change your plans?

Defensively do we walk this hitter trying to set up a double play? If this hitter bunts the runner over to third with one out, do we walk the next batter, or two, and set up double play scenarios? Do we feel confident our pitcher could get swings and misses?

There is so much strategy introduced that personally I'm for this then waiting for a team to start their own rally which may not occur for several innings.

I'm not sure that I love the ghost runner thing, but I am definitely a fan of doing SOMETHING like that in extra innings, rather than just playing more innings.

I do like the idea of something happening after 9 innings that makes extra innings an exciting event, for regular season and for the playoffs.

The bad part (at least for me) with the ghost runner thing in the show, is that I would win those games probably around 80% of the time. The CPU never bunts that guy over, I would bunt him over every time, and then probably 80% of the time, drive him in with the next hitter. But that's different from real life.

The instant someone pitches a perfect game and LOSES because of the Manfred Runner, you'll ALL claim you were against it from the start.

Flyout to right. Runner tags. Safe at third.

Flyout to center. Sacrifice fly. Game over.

You made your bed. Now sleep in it.

How many pitchers are still pitching a perfect game in the 10th inning with the score 0-0? Not likely.
