Re: Official 2022 Uniform Errors and Omissions

The Diamondbacks 1998-2006 look (particularly the 1998 road cap/batting helmet) was an amazing look. I did grow on the 2007-2015 set and even bought the red home cap. Too bad The Show doesn't have the 07-15 Red and Black Alternates although the Diamondbacks mascot still wears the 07-015 red top.

I agree whole hardheartedly on the lame *** BP jerseys needing to be replaced with either proper Spring Training tops (with names/numbers) or just remove them altogether and ad 60 more beautiful throwback uniforms in those missing spots.

Forgive me I'm still playing 20 with 2022 updated rosters. I may finally cave in and get 23 on the PS4 and just ride the storm out with whatever uniforms they have. (22 didn't add any new throwback uniforms so who knows on 23 on PS4/Xbox 1).

    Now for the current sets.

Most clubs haven't been using their alternates as much. Seems like the clubs with the City Connect sets prefer those over their regular alternates.

The Giants had a Black "El Gigantes" set for Cinco De Mayo, don't know if those are in 22. I haven't seen them in their orange Friday sets.

The Blue Jays are wearing their powder blue fauxbacks more than their regular blue. Also on 22 is the White Panel Cap in?

The Rays are wearing the Navy tops often for both home/away. The new shooting star powder blue is now only worn on afternoon home games.

The In....Guardians are wearing their Navy "Cleveland" tops often for both Home/Away. Reminds me of their 1979-1985 Navy tops that said "Cleveland" which became their primary road uniform form 1982-85. One can only dream their 79-85 set gets added in the future.

The Twins used to have a daily preference on their alternates and powder blue throwback. Looks like it's pitchers choice and the navy road tops aren't worn as often.

California chooses to wear their red top at home as it hasn't been worn on the road that often.

Houston only wears the orange tops on occasion. Looks like the City Connect is what they (as well as other clubs) are leaning towards.

Seattle is wearing their Road Navy tops at home more than their beautiful Ken Griffey Jr Teal tops or feauxback 1987-1992 cream with Blue caps set.

Texas continues to raise eyebrows on what color cap should be their primary home. The Red or Blue. The Red tops that were worn specifically on Friday haven't been worn much nor has their Blue road tops. They finally came out in their powder blue Sunday set where as earlier they chose to wear home white with red caps/helmets on Sunday home.

The Braves brought out the 1972-1978 Home throwback. The cream Sunday was retired but the Friday Red finally made an appearance.

The Marlins have chosen to wear their Red City for Friday/Saturday instead of the Black alternate. They finally wore those for a Friday/Saturday road game recently.

The Mets have decided to be old school and not wear any alternates on the road. At home they can choose between the Blue or the 2000's black.

The Phillies are still rocking the throwback from the 80's and the 1940's fauxback with Blue Cap/Helmet is now just a Sunday afternoon home.

The Senators/Nationals City Connect makes for a great road uniform because its....um..............GRAY. The Navy "NATIONALS" is starting to pop up more for home/away as the 2019 Pennant/World Series brings back recent fond memories.

The Cubs are wearing their blue alternates less and less on the road. Jack Brickhouse and Harry Caray would have plenty to say about their City uniform.

The Redlegs look to be going back to tradition and just wearing standard home/away.

The Brew Crew look to be wearing their pinstripes at home more often.

The Diamondbacks are confused on what look they want. They now have red caps/undershirts but need red helmets to match.

The Rockies have retired in the infamous black vest to make way for the new City edition.

Now for the City Connect sets.

The Diamondbacks now have cream colored pants to match the jersey. Don't know if that's been corrected in 22.

Clubs now look to abandon alternate sets in favor of "City" sets like the NBA is doing.

By 2023 all clubs will have "City Connect" sets and in 2024-25 playoff teams will now have "Earned" sets.

It's the same reason I hated when the Rays switched from black and green to blue. Blue is such a common color in baseball but the green and black was unique. Nobody else did it baseball and I'm having trouble thinking of anyone in professional sports that does it.

I hated when the Diamondbacks joined the "black" fad in 2001 with their road uniforms.

As for the note about the Braves, they've been wearing the Hank Aaron era uniforms for select series for a number of years now, usually on what they call "Hank Aaron Week" which was the case this past weekend against the Brewers. I hate that they retired the cream uniforms. It was a nice change for Sunday home games for a few years.

They always wore black on the road. This picture is from their 4th ever road game in 1998.

Though I'll say, that's still a great looking uniform.

Guess I should have been more specific, I was talking about with their gray uniforms which were modified prior to the 2001 season to add black to them, which was trendy at the time. Several teams like the Mets, Reds and Royals all added black to their gray road uniforms during the late 90/early 2000s.

I totally agree, that’s also why I loved when the Padres when back to brown and yellow.

Next season the Rays will make their Navy tops their permanent Away uniform as the traditional road gray will be retired.

The Rays getting rid of their gray jerseys next season certainly is an interesting decision. When's the last time there was a team that didn't have a gray jersey top?

Technically the 1989 Chicago Cubs were the last team to have "Softball Tops" instead of traditional Road Grays (or even powder blue).

                    Several teams in the 70's & 80's did this trend. Oakland/Cleveland/Pittsburgh/Cubs/White Sox/San Diego/Texas.

The Oakland A's started the trend and didn't revert back to traditional road grays until the 1987 season.

Cleveland used either Red or Navy from 1974-77 before going back to traditional Gray tops for the 78 season and also had a Navy alternate which they made their official road uniform in 1982 before going back to a traditional look in 1986.

The Chicago White Sox were on the powder blue bandwagon until 1976 when they went with a 1876 fauxback look with White Tops for Home and Navy Tops for Away. They could also mix n match wither White or Navy Trouser for Home/Away. In 1982 They decided to go back to traditional road gray but still had a softball look. The infamous "Winning Ugly" set from 1982-86 before going with a traditional look during their final years at old Comiskey Park (1987-90).

The San Francisco Giants went polyester in 1977 with Orange Tops (saying "San Francisco") that are in MLB The Show. The following year the Orange tops changed script to "Giants" similar to the home white. They got a Black Alternate top in 1980 and then went back to a traditional look for the 83 season. Sadly the Away uniform from that era is not in the game but the home is

The Texas Rangers ditched powder blue for Royal Blue tops for the 1983 season. In 1984 The Home & Blue Away were changed and a red Alternate top was added. In 1986 they went with a more traditional "Nolan Ryan" look which lasted until the 1993 season as they said goodbye to Arlington Stadium.

The Cubs ditched the powder blue pinstripes for the 1982 season and went with the "Softball" look with Blue tops but solid white pants. In 1990 they were retired and a more traditional road uniform was added (sadly it's not in The Show).

Pittsburgh began their infamous Mix N Match "We Are Family" look for the 1977 season. White with pinstripes/Black/Yellow tops and trousers and two pinbox caps (black & yellow). Dave Parker preferred the Black Top/Yellow Trouser set which is sadly not in The Show. In 1980 the pinstripes were removed from the home whites and in 1985 the Black and Yellow tops and trousers were removed with a gray "softball" top. In 1987 both home and away were given a more traditional look.

In the modern era clubs prefer to use their "alternates" over traditional looks. The Red Sox won the 2018 World Series in their Navy tops, the 2019 Nationals did the same and the Cubs finally won a World Series and wore their blue tops. Also in 2020 when the Padres redid their look, they have the Brown tops as their default road uniform. It's a wonder if they'll ditch the away pinstripes and just use brown on the road permanently.

To add to this, the Braves wore powder blue road uniforms for several years in the 1980s before returning to normal gray road uniforms in 1987 when they change to their current day default home/road uniforms. I feel kinda special because 1987 was the year I was born, so the Braves have had the same basic look my entire life aside from the occasional road blue top that was introduced in 2008 and a red top that was introduced in the mid 2000s. Both have been switched up since then but they still primarily wear white or gray.

The Show needs to update the Braves socks. I don't think the Braves wear plain solid blue socks anymore. I seems like for the last couple of years anytime the Braves have a player sporting the high sock look it's either the stance socks or the socks have a red and white stripe on them. This is from the game last night to show how the socks should look. This is different from the stance socks.

Here's a picture of Ozzie with the Stance socks.

Here's a picture of Ozzie with the Stance socks.

I'm pretty sure there's 2 variations of socks for the Braves that aren't in the game.

There are. Both Acuna and Dansby Swanson were wearing socks that had stripes on them today and both were different styles. Braves have like 3 or 4 different choices on socks.

Both those Braves socks are Stance. I have the pair that Acuna is wearing.

The pair Acuna is wearing is not in the game. They might be stance socks but when you select stance socks in the game the only option the the one from the Albies picture.
