I also play about 1 or 2 minor league games a week, slowing my down even further. I don't mind never finishing a season, which insulates me from a lot of the issues simmers have with Franchise.

Re: Franchise Players - How do you franchise?
True that is why I do quick counts, and I play 90 to 95 games each season about 3 per day M-F and rest quick manage. Its important to me to get the 6 to 8 seasons in as I want to experience seeing guys come up and play and put up numbers. This year excited to see how long before I pull the trigger on guys like Alvarez, Beaty, and Mauricio and bring them up to the show.
I think I am going to do the quick counts going forward. Sounds like a good route to go for something who doesn’t get to game as often as they would hope to

Re: Franchise Players - How do you franchise?
Every pitch, every AB, all 162.
The storylines that emerge over the course of a season, several seasons etc are phenomenal. It is an investment and well worth the rewards of a deep immersive franchise.
And it has nothing to do with the menus….it has everything to do with the game itself.
I can’t play any other way.

I agree. Too bad you are not doing 22. Always used your sliders.

Franchise Players - How do you franchise?
Well if gameplay (in particular directional hitting) returns to how great it was on 20….I would be quite exited with the really nice presentation upgrades they have made for 22 (was impressed as heck with that and it was long overdue).
But if not…..MLB 20 (which I still would play anyway with all the insanely great roster content we have).
I have several long term franchises (Yankees Year 6 in particular) that are simply too good to move on from. It is a shame we lost Y2Y saves. That was a real big deal for me the entire PS4 generation. It really made franchise play incredible being able to know we can move it over and get the latest version of the game.
Hopefully it returns as well. It is sorely missed by a small but dedicated Franchise and Roster community.

Franchise Players - How do you franchise?
Absolutely. And I only use it for a few things:
1. Lineup integrity
2. Robust storylines dice rolling trades at mid season and off season
3. Dice rolling contract extensions for their top five pending free agents/prime players
4. Editing Draft picks around the league in terms of ages
5. Counter regression on players having/coming off of excellent years between ages 28-34
6. Setting up sponsorships for every team based on our OP in the MLB 20 slider thread
The only franchise’s I do not use 30 team control is fantasy draft franchises.

Everything else I just let the world run its course. Especially with my Fictional Franchises. My Cleveland Franchise that I started in 14 is my only single team franchise. We are in year '27. I wish I had done it 30 team but knock on wood it is still running smooth though legacy issues are starting to appear. I am actually surprised it lasted this long.In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Re: Franchise Players - How do you franchise?
I take my favorite team, The BoSox, and try to maybe add some minor pieces from bad teams as well as try to restock the farm. I don't make any moves that make me worse 5 years from now. Then I play all 162, every pitch. I'll then sim 5 years and play as long as I can.Comment

Re: Franchise Players - How do you franchise?
I've set up a system for myself that, at least in my opinion, is the "best of both worlds". I have to intelligently roster build, I play plenty of games and develop attachments to players, and cycle for years.
My In-House play rules:
1. I play every 11th game, every pitch. This cycles my SP. In a 162 game year, I will see every SP three times, or 15 total games.
If I have a bad team, it's not particularly fun playing 15 games a year before I can possibly significantly upgrade it. So I'm forced to build.
2. I play every playoff game.
For me it gets the sweet spot. I get very used to my players and attached to them (in 10 years I may play over 100 games with certain guys). It forces me to build a team I enjoy playing with, but will also Sim well. Losing the playoffs is painful as it restarts the grind. I build rivalries and see league evolution. (I also do things like edit prospect ages and appearances to create a diverse and appropriately aged league, quality of life things).

Re: Franchise Players - How do you franchise?
I play 1 game per week of the schedule, I try to rotate through each of my pitchers, but sometimes I will double up on a certain pitcher if I like the match up or they are in the running for an award late in the year.
For playoffs I play the deciding games.Comment

Re: Franchise Players - How do you franchise?
Used to be an every game, every pitch guy as well, but time has caught up eith me as I've aged. 😀 Here is how I do it now:
Division Series: Play each game until someone wins the series (take 3/4 or 2/3) unless late season playoff chase, then will play all.
Non-division Games: Play whatever pitching matchup I want to play the most.
Playoffs: Every game, every pitch.
Sim through ST and typically don't play any minor league games. Might get froggy and player lock a game or two if there is a particular prospect I want to try out.Comment

Re: Franchise Players - How do you franchise?
I read one of the earlier comments, about playing every 6th game and quick manage the rest... think I may give it a try. I can't play all 162 games I would get bored so fast. I love the game but thats just too long for me. I'm excited for MLB 22, I'm hoping there is some key upgrades to the chise mode
