I just finished an 18 inning marathon of a game in franchise. Both teams completely drained their benches and bullpens. It was absolutely amazing.

Since the patch, All-Star default has been more realistic/difficult. I love it. The CPU beat me 4 times this past weekend. For context, I lost maybe 5 times in the previous 2 years! FYI, I use classic pitching and timing hitting.

Re: MLB The Show '22 Little Things (Positive Little Things Only)

I'm an analog hitter. For years, I thought contact swing would be pressing Circle before the pitch, then using the same upward analog swing. I knew the side flick was another option for contact swing, but I never used it and just assumed the Circle button would do the trick.

I had the sneaking suspicion this wasn't doing very much for me. Recently I started using the side flick in contact situations and have noticed an actual difference. I went from striking out 10-16 times a game to 7 to 9. This even helped me avoid a double play with a very soft, slow ground ball.

I also gave the analog power swing a try while I was at it (stride back, then forward). If anything, the stride seems to help me lay off balls easier, and I've crushed a few homers on center cut pitches.

So, yeah. This is nice. Just posting this in case there are any other analog swingers who have assumed pressing the face buttons pre-pitch would change the swing type. I don't think it does.

Also, I realized I was really leaning on the analog stick while watching the pitch and this might cause me to chase more than I should. I tried keeping my thumb just off the trigger as the pitch comes in, and I think this might help me keep stay back on a handful of balls per game.

I love the split-second swing decision you have to make in this game. It just feels like it must be good for your brain.

“A little roller, up along first.”

Just heard Boog say this as I was playing a game in my Red Sox franchise after Xander hit a slow ball to first. As soon as he said it, as die hard Red Sox fan who remembers 1986 World Series vividly, chills went down my spine. It’s the exact quote Vin Scully said as Mookie Wilson’s ball was on its way to going between Buckner’s legs in game 6 of the 86 World Series.

Very cruel, but also a very nice touch!

Think the Xbox cloud gaming got patched since my last post, I've been playing a Franchise now and finally have seen fans throwing first pitch.

Things I am loving this year are the ticker...for sure! I also love the difference in AA and MLB ambiance. I am playing as the relocated D'Backs in Portland and when I play AA, the crowd sound bites are fantastic. An obvious missed strike against the opposition, a swell of small boos and maybe a retort against the ump. Have Andy Yerzy a backup C and after k'ing twice he comes up with go ahead run on 2nd and the fans gave him encouragement by telling him to wait for his pitch and that he can do it and called him by his name. Grabbed my local guy here with the Frontier Tri City valley Cats, Brad Zunica and they call him Big Z. Blew my mind! . Man, after he helped in my Youtube Orioles series win the Series in 3 yrs, & now is a big part of my Beavers one, he may be gone next year in the game

Also, the umpires...they are sometimes brutal and I love that.

Lastly, glad they kept a DH rule on or off as I love to have no DH and I up all pitchers hitting stats to reflect what truly could help baseball by pretending to have a looser stitched slightly larger baseball and their sliders really are fine tuned this year. I am seeing less Ks, less walks, less Hrs with higher BAs, triples and steals

I don't care what anyone says, the chicken noise when you intentionally walk a hitter never gets old.

Saw an animation I never had before. Foul tip hits the umpire and he goes down to a knee.

Learned something new today. If you're doing Quick Manage, players have their picture next to their name. If the player is on their regular team, it's a photo (like, their official team photo), otherwise it is a rendering of their in game likeness.

But apparently, if the player is going back to a team they previously played for irl, apparently they can get their old picture up there. Lucas Sims hasn't played for the Braves since 2018, but there's a slightly younger looking Sims wearing a Braves hat.

Played an extra inning game and was in bottom of 14th. Scorebug showed the local time

Came across the ticker. "Shane McClanahan throws no hitter, 3rd no hitter in Rays history".

That's not one I have seen before pretty nice.

Oh that was funny! Was playing a franchise game the fan let their drink drop just too catch a foul ball I thought it was so realistic and on point ..

So as part of my 30 team control franchise, I play all of the Cubs games in my playing time and sometimes let the CPU play games in the background while I work from home. I think cpu vs cpu is where the game really shines. Well last night I played my Cubs vs Reds game where there was rain. I advanced the schedule day and today as I work, I have the Mets vs Phillies playing in the background where there is rain. I'm hoping this is the brilliance of the game having the weather patterns travel across the country as in real life.

I have to see sometime if the weather on the Northside of Chicago matches the Southside in a White Sox home game on the same day.

For the first time I seen a on screen display of the starting pitcher line on the screen. They were mentioning how he’s been struggling all game and it popped up. If they could just do that every game it would be perfect. Even if it’s like in the 5th inning just do a recap of how they are doing if they are still in the game. Or like before they do it after he is taken out of the game.
