Based on what exactly? What do you know we don't? And have they said they can't? Game is still technically pre-release, and you're complaining about core change to major league baseball that were literally announced 3 weeks ago?

No wonder the Devs hate us.

Dude is in his feelings today, making snarky comments in multiple threads……. It’s funny cause he used to be one of the mainstays on here always having meaningful input, now we have the best baseball game to date and he’s mad, some people are just impossible to figure out lol

Yeah I see that now in a a few threads. Not sure what's up but it's disappointing.

Ha. You guys are right, I’ll try to stop complaining like a 12-year old. Maybe it’s because the Cubs suck so bad. I’ve always thought of myself as being somewhere in between of the eternal optimists and one-sided haters of sports games. I’ll give The Show more time.

I'll have it tomorrow, I'm sure I'll echo this.
We need another competent MLB effort from some other studio so we can ping pong every other year. Sports games in general have really been improving at a snails pace.
I miss the old days of coming home with 4 Ball games haha

The new commentary is nice but after just a few games its old, and it will likely be far more repetitive that Matt & Co. from years past. The aging textures on the grass, stadiums and skyline are just compete eyesores. I really want to be into it, and I'll probably play it a little more but as far as getting through a season or two, I'm just not sure it's possible for me.

Add on top of it that the new playoff system is not in and it's just a lot for me to swallow. I read a lot about the new presentation and while yeah, it's new, it does not blow me away by any stretch of the imagination. Maybe I've just played The Show too much over the last decade or so, but I'm just bored with it after a few games. I can remember in years past playing it out of the box and being super excited about starting a franchise. It's just not there for me anymore.

At least Starfield comes out this year.

Oh, I'm for sure getting older, no doubt about that. I'm 42 years young. Old enough to have seen pretty much every sports video game ever, and old enough to be able to reflect and admit that I act foolishly at times. I'm pretty sure I'm one of OS's longest-standing members.

One thing I'm disappointed in is that they didn't update Comerica Park so that the wall behind the bullpens in left field are orange. They still have them green in the game. Hopefully that's something that can be fixed, but if not it's not really a huge deal. Would just be nice to have it look current. Unless the Tigers put them back to green. Won't know till Friday!

I honestly don't even care about hit variety and other things with gameplay. I think the game plays fairly well at this point, but I did not touch the first next gen version as it looked awful and didn't seem to play well. The stadiums, grass lol, and just the feeling by way of lighting and ambiance looking at the field is WAY off. I don't know what it is, but I expected so much more on PS5. It just looks again like a high-res PS4 game and an old one at that. I read a couple reviews by Armor and others, and I have no idea what they are seeing. This lighting is archaic to say the least but maybe I have been playing too many high-end games.

From a real park in comparison, there is just something super off about the way the lighting and the grass interact and the actual tone, density, and color of the grass, dirt, and many details in the stadiums. It feels a bit empty as it always did on PS4. Hard to put down in words, but the realism of visuals just isn't there, and it hasn't taken a big step in a long time. Baby steps yes, but I'm just not excited to look at this game anymore, and worse I revile the look of the field in this game. Been that way for 5+ years. It looks like a 1080p game upscaled to 4K with poor detail and lighting is basically what I am getting at.

I'm not sure I can buy anything else until this game gets a massive upgrade for next gen. It barely looks like anything has been done to the field in 5+ years. It just doesn't look realistic anymore. Small tweaks to these textures and models just isn't doing it for me. Now that we have Switch and other systems I feel like it will never get any better until the old systems are dropped, which might be never going at this rate.

                              Some Show humor here.

On MLB 19 and 20 we had “Flat out” Hedi.

On MLB 22 we now have “And that’s that” Boog.

I don't think any game can ever keep the commentary fresh over the course of a full season. It's just not possible.

Repetition is inevitable. People are blown away with the new commentary, and that is great. But there is no way it holds up over the course of 162 games. You hear repetition sometimes after 10 games or less. It's just the nature of the beast.

If the announcers come in and refresh lines and banter as year goes on, that is one way to combat it to a certain extent.

I always wished they would just go back to one announcer doing play by play and concentrating on how players are performing during the game as well as the season. It would greatly eliminate repetitive lines, and allow the game to sound more realistic and breathe a bit without constant back and forth.
