PBP Audio is Rough
It needs work….no question. It is year 1 of a brand new team.
I am also pretty sure they will patch fixes to bad “triggers” for wrong lines. I am reporting the bugs and I hope everyone else is so we can hear it’s full potential for at least this first cycle of the new PBP and color.
But man….it was long overdue and I love the silence between pitches and how the game is allowed to breathe so much more and the sights and sounds of the ballpark are far more prevalent.

And for those who don't like the "silence" between pitches, that is Boog's style. He calls the game. Doesn't put in a lot of "filler" crap. Lets the game speak for itself, and just calls the action.Comment

Not trying to be snarky but my favourite part of the new commentary is those moments of silence, letting the game breathe and allowing the player to take in the atmosphere.
In my opinion when it comes to commentary, (even in real life sports) sometimes less is more.

Re: PBP Audio is Rough
My last name is gone too.
Sooooooo what we need to do is start a new name request for the show thread for 23 and beyond.

Re: PBP Audio is Rough
I hope they reassign the ‘Boog getting excited on a strike’ sound byte for strike three only. Too often it happens otherwise.

Re: PBP Audio is Rough
Yeah, the silence with the uptick in crowd noise and general ballpark ambience is a great formula. Year 2 and 3 we'll see this commentary team really take off. Definitely a good foundation and I'm excited to see what's in store in the future with this team.Comment

Re: PBP Audio is Rough
This reminds me of an idea I had years ago of offering regional PBP sound packs via DLC purchase. I would pay top dollar to download a Jason Benetti & Steve Stone pack to replace the default PBP. I wonder if such a thing will ever be possible. If anything I would think these last two years have opened a lot of eyes (ears?) to the reality that it isn't that difficult to record professional-quality audio remotely, so it isn't like they'd have to fly in a bunch of regional broadcasters to record lines. I'm guessing budgeting such a feature is the bigger problem than logistics, though.Comment

Re: PBP Audio is Rough
I played a little offline DD to earn stubs for my franchise sponsorships and the announcer called Griffey Jr. #24, but yet the stadium PA guy called him buy his name.Comment

Another thing that could be done, is have multiple announce teams (ala NBA 2k)
Could even have a couple "generic" teams of fictional announcers, and then have the Boog Schiambi/Singleton for the bigger "MLB Network" games.
The fictional "generic" announcers could be treated as watching a game on your team's network.....ala the Tigers on Bally Sports Detroit, or the Yankees on the YES Network, etc.
Would give the bigger games a bigger feel, IMOComment

IMO, there wouldn't be a big enough market for something like this. It's a cool idea, just don't think enough people would buy enough to justify the cost.
I'd love for them to maybe have a playoff/World Series package or even Sunday Night Baseball announcing team to make those games stand out more. Who wouldn't want to listen to Joe Buck during the WS? *crickets*Comment

Re: PBP Audio is Rough
Same. I played MLB The Show 22 for the first time today and was so bummed when I realized with the new PBP meant the old audio for my unique last name got dumped because it was Matt's voice.
Something like this would be awesome.

Yeah, NBA 2K is a great example of a franchise getting their feet wet on this concept. Copying that idea and just having different commentary teams, possibly changing based on which presentation setting you use for the game (MLB Network, Regional Network, Broadcast Network, etc.), would be a cool start.Comment
