Today is the day..or is it?
I’ve gotten The Show each of the last 7 years but gave up on last years very quickly. I’m a franchise player so I wasn’t expecting any inspiring changes but this board has been very weird on this game. I know this board can be picky but it seems like there is a feeling here of wanting to like this game, but an overwhelming number of posts about the games glitches, bugs and things that made me quit on the game last year. Someone posted in another thread that using quick manage/jumping in game ruins the stats, this besides all other complaints would be a game killer for me. So here I am on release day and not sure if I will make it 8 in a row.Tags: None -

I was definitely skeptic about getting it but I think the presentation and gameplay is so much better than 21.

Gameplay top notch between the lines. Presentation and commentary will get old after a few weeks or month or so. Only buy it if you love how it plays on field. The rest of the stuff will wear off, as it always does. or worse, they will release patches that introduces new issues and changes things people actually liked.
Gameplay is the thing...for me.Comment

Re: Today is the day..or is it?
There is a ton of good information around here that can help with your decision. I wouldn't listen to some as there are a ton of yes-men running around here that will always praise SDS no matter if the game is good or not. Armor posted a pretty extensive review in the impressions thread that can give you an idea of what to expect from 22. Bottomline, if you are hesitant now about the game, it is ok waiting until the first price drop to purchase it or skipping it entirely as I will.est 1978

Re: Today is the day..or is it?
The game play is much better.
I actually enjoy the commentary. It sounds like Boog and Singleton are actually calthe game. game. I have a feeling those who don't like the commentary aren't familiar with Boog's style.
As for franchise, there aren't many changes. But one thing I have noticed, is middle relievers are rarely pitching more than an inning at a time.
And long relievers are being used correctly. When the CPU is down by a couple runs, they are bringing in the Middle relievers, not the long relievers. Last year, any time the cpu was down, even by a run, they would bring in the LRP.
This is huge.Comment

Re: Today is the day..or is it?
So I gave up on 21 after almost 100 hours of trying to get it right and honestly regret buying it in the first place.
I love 20 as it is such a great game and in my opinion one of the best ever.
22 feels more like 20 in terms of gameplay with improved fielding. It took me a while to decide to pull the trigger on 22 because of how I feel about 21. After playing the beta it felt closer to 20 but I still wasn't convinced as the beta was an incomplete game.
I am honestly glad I bought 22. It feels closer to 20 like I said and has been easy to get settings feeling right. Much easier than 21 as that was an enigma at times.
Once they fix a few franchise bugs and the medium camera angle, it will be the second best game behind 20. May even surpass it but we will wait a full cycle to assess that.
I had given up on MLB and SDS but the presentation and commentary has made it feel like a new game. The regional presentation alone is awesome. There are still a few cringe moments with commentary, but that happens in all sports games. I am just glad when I load an in game save I don't have to here Matt V. say this person has hit 2 home runs today and is going for a third when the hitter is 0-3.
I really did think that I was done with SDS for good but they pulled me back. We still don't have y2y saves but I can see this game lasting me a few cycles especially on the PS5 where the gameplay has been buttery smooth. The fielding is so much better than 20 and 21 too. There was still a need to lower infield reaction and outfield speed to 4 on all star though.
Overall, it is worth the buy. Whether that be th first price drop or right away. There is enough improvement over 21 and even 20 to make it worthy of a purchase.
You can read through my thoughts on 21 and know that I am unbiased. And 20 is still far from perfect as well. But this improves upon that. As someone who disliked 21, give it a go.Funkycorm

So let me ask this based on your post:
What are your concerns? Is there anything in particular that you're hoping is fixed/better/added/improved from previous versions?I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Today is the day..or is it?
NO, not at all!!! Teams still build their lineup with two speedy ppl at the top. One of those almost always seems to be the worst hitter on the team lol please get this right sony . Bullpen management still messed up too. Simmed two months and there is setup men with 6 innings pitched and long relievers with 60 innings.
Only silver lining is that that if you wwnt manage the lineups, teams dont use non dh lineups anymore so you essentially have to just manage half of the lineups.Comment

Re: Today is the day..or is it?
I can say I recommend it because its good and I enjoy it, but that is because the game meets what I'm looking for in my personal experience to enjoy the game.

Re: Today is the day..or is it?
So is what I read on the board and mentioned in my post occurring? Jumping in a game or out of a game to quick manage ruining the stats? Batters who had 4ab showing 0 for 0 that game. I can already see the trade logic was not fixed, rule 5 draft is broken, completely disagree with several ratings. Are you playing the same inter league schedule every year again?
I can't speak for the trade logic, and I've seen the post about Rule 5, and while I haven't completed a season, the fact that it wasn't mentioned given how big of a deal it is the community, I think its safe to say that interleague schedules do not rotate this year.
Based on your previous post and this one, I think you may be better served passing on this year's game, or waiting to see if these issues are patched, because I think there are several things that are going to prevent you from enjoying the game.
Just humble .02 from a "yes man"I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: Today is the day..or is it?
I don’t feel the game is much better than 21 IMO. The audio improvements with crowd and effects is less than stellar. Pitching is still too easy IMO. Feels like 21, wait for a sale before buying lolComment
