Yes. I get thru 2 to 3 years a release. Others like CountryBoy get thru many more most of the time. I skipped '21 and I am still messing with '20. I have played into my 6th season of my fictional franchise. Then I have an Indians Franchise that I started in 14 and with carry overs I am in 2027. I have not simmed a Major League game yet in any of these Franchises.

All 162...
I first played the show in '20 and played all 162 with my A's..
In '21 I played about 80+ games but got busy/life got in the way...
This year I'm 45 games in... Easily flying thru the games! Will easily get to 162.. and this is all on the switch lmaooComment

Re: Franchise, how do you decide which games to play?
I play one game a series. Doesn’t matter the length 2,3 or 4 games. I rotate which starting pitcher and have to use each one before using one twice. it usually goes 1,5,3,2or4 depending on how the series play out. it gives me a good balance of games i play. i also have critical situations on. i play all playoff games if i make it. Doing an A’s franchise so it be a couple of years before i have to worry about it!

Re: Franchise, how do you decide which games to play?
Someone gave me this idea and I went with it and it works
Each game I play the first 3 innings to get through both teams lineup once. Then after the 3rd inning I follow these rules
If Tied at any time I play
If I am winning I pitch only quick manage hitting
If I am losing I hit only and quick manage pitching
Games with quick counts take about 20 minutes eachMets Baseball, All Day Every Day

Re: Franchise, how do you decide which games to play?
I play against teams like or who have superstars. Usually 2 games in the series then sim the others. After the all star break I'll only play teams in the play off picture. I Sim the playoffs. If I make it to the world series I'll play it.

Re: Franchise, how do you decide which games to play?
My main one I try to play all 162 and stay close to the current date. If I I fall more than 2 weeks behind I will quick manage and get caught up if life gets in the way. I also run another franchise that's mostly a sim that gives me my team building/offseason fix

Re: Franchise, how do you decide which games to play?
Do the guys who play the full 162 game get bored of playing that many games ? I’ve never been able to do it. Seams it basically take me to next years release with life stuff getting in the way. It’s hard to separate real life and video game life to.Comment

I prefer to play every single pitch, including RP warmups and every Spring Training game.

I still use the 1 per day rule now when I reach a 7 game playoff series in baseball, basketball, or hockey.Comment

Re: Franchise, how do you decide which games to play?
I enjoy the team building and gameplay aspects of franchise equally, so here's how I enjoy both during my saves. I've added more games to my schedule this year, but I used this method during my 8-year long Rockies franchise on MLB 21.
Regular Season
Majors: I play one MLB game every in-game week with whatever pitcher/matchup I want to see during that week. I'll never use the same starter twice in a row, and I'll never play the same team back-to-back.
Minors: I used to mix in 1 minor league game a month, but now that I've moved onto PS5 and can take advantage of created stadiums I've been playing 1 AAA and 1 AA game a month.
Post Season
Majors: In the past I've played only elimination games, but this year I'm considering playing every playoff game. The Stanley Cup playoffs have me itching for more playoff games - Let's go Rangers!
Minors: I'll play the championship clinching game for AAA/AA if we reach that point.
All-Star Week
If any player in my organization is participating in an All-Star week festivity (Futures Game, HRD, MLB/MILB ASG) I'll do a player-lock game with that player if they're starting. If I have multiple starters in one game I'll have to pick favorites.Comment

Re: Franchise, how do you decide which games to play?
Like others, I like to get deeper into franchise. I’ve tried multiple things to balance this so I feel I play sn adequate amount of games and enjoy the ride and also get deeper into my franchise.
I’ve settled on a simple rotating starter set up which means every 6th day I play. I go from SP1, then next game will be SP2 next start (not next day but the following one).
I play all playoff games if I make it.
This way I play 27 regular season games + playoffs if I go far. 27-35 games/yr is the average.
That said, I do have a few exceptions. Sometimes I play the same team the following week. If I don’t want to do that, I choose a game prior to play and forgo his next start.
If there’s a playoff chase series, I might forgo the next 3 starts of those pitchers to play that series. Sometimes I play the series and don’t forgo.
So I have a structure but it’s not set it stone.

Re: Franchise, how do you decide which games to play?
I sort of play it by ear so my rules aren't hard and fast but generally I operate this way:
For a 3 game series I'll play one game, and then quick manage the others with the occasional straight sim in there. I usually pick the pitching matchup I like most.
For a 4 game series I do the same as above but I usually play 2 of the games in the series.
For the most part I won't use the same starting pitchers for 2 games I play in a row. I try to mix up it up as best I can.Comment

Re: Franchise, how do you decide which games to play?
I play 2 and simulate one. Rinse and repeat.
This has me rotate which SP I skip so the same SP is only skipped about every 3rd time through the rotation. This also typically has me playing 2 of the 3 games in most 3 game series.Comment
