I used to sim a lot, but now I play every game, and just skip most cutscenes.

I like the off-season stuff…but I have OOTP for that.

Re: Franchise, how do you decide which games to play?

If you have never played all 162 before, I'd suggest it...at least once. I think it's the most rewarding and enjoyable things I have done in a sports video game, but it takes effort. I did it back with the Cubs in 2016 and ended up losing in seven to the Dodgers in the NLCS and it still gives me butterflies.

With that said, I am going to give the aforementioned approach of "Play every sixth" a try. I'd like to get through at least a couple seasons and enjoy the offseason for a change. I think 27 actual played games (with good sliders) during the Regular Season can make a massive difference on your club playing October baseball.

I hate sim stats like most, but without the ability to change the season length, this is the best we're gonna get.

Yeah I probably should have mentioned that. If I make the playoffs, I'll play every game of each series. Playing every 6th is just a regular season thing to get through games.

If the standings are tight down the stretch, I might play more than every 6th. If I'm playing as a rebuilding team and am clearly out of it by the deadline, I might sim more until the end of the season.

You can obviously modify however you want but playing every 6th is a good baseline approach imo.

I’ve been buying MLB every couple years for the last decade and every year I keep saying I’m gonna play all the games in a season, the most I’ve gotten through is maybe half a season. This year I’m going to try to play through and continue without buying the next version of this lol

I play every pitch of every game. But it takes me a while. I am currently on game 121 of my MLB The Show 21 Franchise. I don't mind as I usually buy sports games every other year. Though if this years is good, and I finish my current season sometime end of May or June, I may buy '22 if they have it on sale for a decent price.

Agree, having simulated stats really messes up your franchise in my opinion. As he said, if you think it takes to long, try using the quick counts, it really does speed up the game.

I play them all, like someone else said I don’t want simulated stats……. It’s a grind but it’s fun as hell and makes u feel like u earned whatever the results are from the season

Re: Franchise, how do you decide which games to play?

I have done a few ways over the years:

                    Play all 162
                    Play 1, sim 5
                    Play 1, sim 10
                    Play 5, quick manage 5
Play every Sunday and Tuesday (Wednesday if no Tuesday game)

Currently I am simming into the future with 2 franchise teams in one file. Once I get to where I want, I am going to play all 162 for Cleveland and quick manage all for the Cubs. I sim into the future because I don't like real current rosters and trying to match them, nor are fictional rosters my style. Doing this lets me put my stamp on the franchise before I play. This also lets me test the progression/regression dynamic, trade logic, and budget logic. Something I enjoy doing.

Re: Franchise, how do you decide which games to play?

I run 2 franchises every year.

play all 162 and playoffs with a team that I feel has a shot to make the playoffs
                      +
One rebuild where i just play critical situations during the season and play just the home games in playoffs when i make it. Playing this way allows me to take a break from the grind of playing all 162 and gives me a chance to do some roster building

I play every game. No quick counts, no fast play.

I play 1 game skip 3 and so on so I dont just play with the same starting pitcher, if you skip 4 you keep playing with the same pitcher every game

if you do not have time to play all 162, playing 1 of everything 3 games is about right.
                                here's my rational:
99% of IRL teams are going to win 54 games no matter what
99% of IRL teams are going to lose 54 games no matter what
it's what they do with the remaining 54 games that decide where on the spectrum of a 162 game season they will finish, anywhere from 108-54 to 81-81 to 54-108 and everywhere in between
