    Re: RTTS 22 thread

Started a power hitting 3B player a few days ago, and I actually had a few things happen that never have happened before.

I was a month away from the AA all star break, I was hitting .340 with 11 HRs and 71 RBI. I heard from time to time that I was a decent ball player, and its a shame that I am being blocked at the MLB level. Mind you I was drafted by the Angels, but the game even mentioned Rendon by name. Nothing major to some, but I have never had that mentioned before. Dont know if I just didnt pay attention in years past, but I thought it was cool.

Fast forward a few days and I get called up to AAA ball and start playing third. I start out slow, but slowly start to dig myself in. I get called into the office, and I am asked to switch to LF because I am being blocked. I thought to myself, never have I had this happen before either. The manager says either I make the switch, or I might get traded. HA! I thought, this game has broken promises from past years that never were acted upon. Told them no, and that I was sticking to third. BOOM, I got traded the next day.

    WHAT IS GOING ON!?

Back to AA ball for the rest of my first season.

Well, the Yankees lose to the Angels in the Wildcard, despite 3 hits including a homer from my guy. Our team coming into the following season is surprisingly terrible, I kind of thought being on the Yankees might result in my team not sucking for the first time in Rtts history, but some "interesting" choices have resulted in us looking decidedly mediocre. (trading Gleyber Torres and a prospect for a hundred year old Robinson Chirinos, who then retired due to lack of ability is probably the highlight)

New season, new hopes. I start off pretty badly, hitting about .250 in the first month, before breaking my leg stealing second base. Sub-optimal, I then miss the next 2+ months of the season, coming back to find us way adrift in the division. Turns out Tim Locastro hasn't been filling in very well in the 4 hole for me. Onwards we go though, hopefully we trade for someone so Frank Shwindel is no longer our DH so we might make a bit of a go at the second half and try and get a wildcard spot

About 10 games back from a broken leg, my guy steals second base and breaks his leg again. Terrific. Might need to work on his sliding technique, or cure his bonitis

All you can do is laugh at how scripted RttS is at times....

So I decided to restart my maxed out SS (93 ovr) on a new team....the Rays. They have a good, young, talented minor league system.

I figured even though they have Wander Franco, he is an 82 ovr....surely they would rather have ME at SS?!

LOL, of course not...got the old, change position or we are trading you talk. If I wanted to play RF, I would have made an RF.

So they traded me to the Brewers.

18 year old, 93 OVR SS traded because they are "set at SS" with 82 ovr Wander Franco....lol.

Like I said, all you can do is laugh at the scripted garbage....

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesnt the CPU view you as a lower round draft pick? I was only a 63 when I started so i am not sure for those that are at Superstar level from the get-go.

If that is the logic that the CPU goes by no matter what your overall is, I would say that this is justified. I call it the Tom Brady effect.

Regardless of the reasoning, trading away an 18 year old 93 ovr is silly...

Oh well, I just let the game draft me this time and didnt select a team and Baltimore took me. They have some talent in the minors, maybe it was all for the best...

I just want a young, GOOD group of players to grow with...who wants to spend 6 years on a crappy team with no chance of winning anything? Its bad enough I am a Cubs fan IRL

I get what you are saying, however I feel the CPU views you as a "low end propspect" and not the 93 you see. Its like the CPU has fog of war on, and doesnt know your true potential.

Just chalk it up as a bad move on their end, and a benefit for you.

Painting corners thanks to perfect input with no increase to control. No in game way to increase break for fastball type pitches or velocity for breaking pitches. COD style perks. Being limited to certain training sessions each week (sorry man but sprints aren't available this week so you'll have to train a different way.) Yes very realistic. I'm not saying training points were perfect but at least I got to choose how to progress my player, I think a "classic" mode for RTTS would make everybody happy. You might say, "oh but you don't HAVE to change archetypes/perks if you want realism." But that's exactly my defense of the old system. You didn't HAVE to go 99 everything. Every year I'd make a superstar 5 tool guy and another player with more realistic attributes simply out of preference. If there's was an in-game way to increase EVERY attribute and they got rid of archetypes, loadouts, perks and equipment that would go a long way to add realism but unfortunately we are not there.
I was talking about how you gain the attributes is more realistic, not the video game stuff like equipment boosts which were included in the old system as well. So I like this system better. You like the old one better. Nothing wrong with that.

Yes I understand that but I pointed out how the way you currently gain attributes is NOT realistic. It absolutely could be though. Also perks and archetypes were not a thing before 18. Equipment was redundant as every attribute was capped at 99 anyway, now it's almost required for progression.

Decided to start a new my ballplayer and RTTS. This time it's another two-way phenom from Japan who decided to forego the Japanese leagues and sign with the Cubs. This effectively burnt any bridges to ever playing professional baseball in Japan so he's all in on his MLB dream.

His archetype is a Painting/Slugger as Starting Pitcher/Center Field and also DHs. Not an overpowering pitcher by any means but his pinpoint control more than gets the job done. He is an artist and the strike zone is his canvas.

Dont think I have spent more than 20 games in AAA this year or last....

Seems pretty scripted to me.....you play in AA until right after or right before the MiLB AS game, get called up to AAA, play about 15-20 games and then get called up to the bigs.

I have restarted my player 5 times and it has followed that path EVERY time....

It is honestly kind of a pet peeve of mine....I would LOVE to spend an ENTIRE season in AAA to polish my skills more....but never happens.
