You throw curve balls in the dirt with a runner on third up by one run to a catcher with a low block rating, you'll know they matter.😯👌🏾

I hate to say it, but we can’t expect catchers’ attributes to matter when defensive attributes don’t matter in general. I could put Aaron Judge at shortstop and get the same results as if I put Omar Vizquel at shortstop.

No way lol. Especially if you adjust sliders. 8 IF errors, 1 reaction, 1 IF arm strength. Way more realistic and plays out great allowing separation between great and average/above average fielders. Judge would be awful with the setup I use for fielding.

On default settings, I have seen literally three errors in 20 games played. So no, not false.

No. Three errors total in 20 games with all fielders playing their assigned or secondary positions. My point is…errors rarely happen regardless of defensive ratings.

This game has always been not so good with scoring errors properly or even at all on obvious errors. So far this year I haven't seen that yet thankfully. But to be fair, you are correct. Errors are almost non existent on default settings. IF throwing errors on default I feel is pretty solid though. But fielding? Yeah you're lucky to see one every 10 games or so.

However, just because there are no errors doesn't mean fielding attributes doesn't make a difference. This is more noticeable in the OF imo. But at the end of the day, sliders are there to tweak to achieve what you want to experience. Find your sweet spot and enjoy!

I don’t throw curveballs in the dirt.

I usually throw them up and in the middle of the zone where the hitter can crush them. Not on purpose of course haha

I'm in early May using manage mode and my catcher has thrown out 100% of stolen base attempts.

Didn't they hire a former member of this forum to fix gameplay? It changed for the worse.

Sounds like a manage only mode issue and a gameplay issue. Gameplay itself is mostly excellent.

I finally played my first regular season game today and had a base runner attempting to steal 2nd on me. The graphic came up saying Molina had a pop time of 1.70

Has anyone noticed their pop times?

That would be Contreras doing the popping. What's interesting is this - both he and Molina have the "Catcher Pop Time" quirk which does exactly what it says it does. So there's variance in the pop times even among catchers who have the quirk (and definitely not all catchers have it).
