Re: Bullpen logic… as nauseam
Nice. NE Ohio is a lot nicer than people might think. I would drive through the Lyndhurst area quite frequently on 90 on my trips back and forth from Kent/Akron area, quite frequently. I lived in Stow, Cuyahoga Falls, and on the outskirts of Akron, in my 20s and early 30s. I miss it down there.
Sorry for the NE Ohio lovefest going on in here lol. I don't want to derail the thread too much. A little derailment is ok though lol.Last edited by PVarck31; 04-19-2022, 11:20 AM.Comment

Ad Nauseam: Referring to something that has been done or repeated so often that it has become annoying or tiresome
It’s a tongue in cheek joke, because every year there’s a bullpen logic thread, and every year we discuss how bad the bullpen logic is.
Does that clear up any confusion?Comment

I think he was making a joke about the thread being called "as nauseam".Ad Nauseam: Referring to something that has been done or repeated so often that it has become annoying or tiresome

Re: Bullpen logic… as nauseam
That happens anyway. I carried a full 13 pitchers in a franchise I am running right now with the reds because of injuries I can’t really carry the extra bat. Max shrock has been on the big league roster for 2 months and hasn’t gotten a single at bat. He is not a great defender so I doubt he is being used as a defensive replacement. Has good contact against righties though (in the 70’s)
I am simming right now testing logic and other things. But the fact remains that even with the extra pitcher the CPU controlled managers are just choosing not to give certain guys at batsComment

Yes, it went completely over my head lol. I didn’t realize the my phone auto corrected it to “as nauseam”.
Strangely my phone doesn’t over due it with the auto correct. Only on OS for some reasonComment

Bumping this thread bc I’m currently setting up my 30 team franchise and bullpens.
What alignment has gotten the best results for you all?

Re: Bullpen logic… ad nauseam
I set mine up with 12 pitchers per team, and nobody in the long reliever spot. Seems to work fine that way.JUUUUUUUST A BIT OUTSIDEComment

Re: Bullpen logic… ad nauseam
Last year I started rotating guys to make sure they are used appropriately. I just go through each team once a week and try to balance things out a bit.
Somewhat off topic but I also began using 6-man rotations in a similar manner (subbing the previous days SP into the pen) for some teams during rough stretches of games as well and felt like I was getting good results

Re: Bullpen logic… ad nauseam
Would it help to lower the RPs stamina to like 15-20? I feel like they’d get pulled earlier, has anyone tried that?

Re: Bullpen logic… ad nauseam
This is working perfectly fine for me.
And if there are some CPU teams who simply don’t have a worthy extra bench player and I carry 13 pitchers I will put a pitcher in the LRP role with under 40 stamina.....it works much better.
But 12 is the ideal number to have the AI function better (still not great and still needs to be a top priority....but it seems like we have been talking about this for several years). Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Bullpen logic… ad nauseam
I'm curious what the attraction is to simming. This is easily the best sports game ever made in terms of graphics and gameplay.I know this dead horse has been beaten and beaten over and over again. But the bullpen logic seems worse this year.
I just had zack godley my long reliever come in second on my team in innings pitched at 164. I simmed the whole season controlling the roster myself for test purposes, and he was never in the rotation and never started a game.
This should not be happening
I haven's seen bullpen issues playing the games.≡Comment

Re: Bullpen logic… ad nauseam
The attraction to simming is I actually get to see how my roster decisions in a rebuild actually pan out. I still play a good amount of games in a season (between 30 to 40) so I get to see all of the beauty the game has to offer. But I also get to see how my roster moves, trades, prospects and free agent pick ups pan out. Franchise mode is a team building mode at its core, but if I never get to see how any of my decisions make a difference what’s the point? I might as well just play exhibition games.
Some would say that the attraction of playing a full 162 has lost its appeal because of the removal of Y2Y saves since none of your progress actually Carrie’s overComment

Re: Bullpen logic… ad nauseam
You play MOM….I play about 1/2 my games MOM. It is a glaring issue how often the other team sends the same 2 pitchers in in relief. I can almost say their names when I know the CPU is going to make a move.Comment
