Check Swings

Check swings on this year's game are totally broken. It really sucks to barely tap the button and release it WAY before the pitch reaches the plate and the batter's swing actually stops but then the stupid check swing animation kicks in and causes a swing. It's happened to me quite a few times and each time it's frustrating cause I stopped my swing only to have the animation kick in and cause a swing.


The might honestly be the worst Show game ever made. The amount of issues with this year's game included the worst roster sets SDS has ever given us, man, I'm so freaking annoyed I wasted money on this game. I should have stuck with The Show 20 cause it was a masterful game.

I haven't seen much of an issue with the check swings.

I can agree with the check swing somewhat,but it is much better than last year. Two years ago you could turn check swings off and it worked. I could draw walks alot easier,but thats on me to have a better eye.
With that said,this years game IMO is easily the best SDS has put out yet.

I think they’re just a lot different than last year which makes people think something is wrong…… the check swing is less forgiving this year which is better imo

You went from being mad at check swings to saying this is one of the worst show games ever.

As for your question I haven’t really had an issue with check swings. Also, I feel like this has been one of the better default roster sets.

Check swings seem a lot better in 22 than 21 to me.

I wouldn't know about 21 because I never played it. The animations just seemed so much smoother in 20 than they do this year with regards to check swings.

I think they’re just a lot different than last year which makes people think something is wrong…… the check swing is less forgiving this year which is better imo

20 - checks swings act like a crutch and you can get a check swing almost any time you want

21 - this was addressed, arguably too much. Hard af to check swing, but not ridiculous.

22 - they nailed it

After over 500 hours easy with MLB 20 the notion it is a crutch is ridiculous…just a complete fallacy. The ratio was about 50/50 swing or check.

21 was a a completely broken check swing.

22 far from perfect….85/15 swing to check.

Still needs work.

Agreed with ‘20

In ‘20 with zone hitting I was shocked whenever a swing was ruled on a check swing. I didn’t fear being rung up

‘21 & ‘22 feel identical to me in regards to check swings. Sometimes it’s a swing and other times it’s ruled I held up. I think it’s pretty balanced

I could be wrong, but I think checking the swing is easier with certain players based on their stats as far as actually checking up and not going around goes, but on top of that I believe that it has little to do with your quick reflexes and much more to do about the balls position relative to home plate. As the ball gets closer to home plate it gets harder to do if it's even possible to do at all. It seems much easier to do if you're super early. Once again, I could be wrong...
