    PS4 overheating

In 6 years I don’t think my PS4 has ever gotten over heated. In 2 weeks with MLB the show 22 it’s now over heated twice. It definitely sounds like the PS4 is having troubles when playing the game, the fan gets very loud. Anyone else having this problem? Maybe it’s a sign I need a PS5.

It's probably stuffed with dust and can't breathe.

      Re: PS4 overheating

This happened to me a couple years ago and what worked for me is put either 4 blocks on each corner of ps4 i used coasters lol but trust me it worked. Some ps4 units need a little spacing from what u have it set on, it needs air flow.

4 Blocks, 4 wood pieces, plastic type toy luke maybe lego pieces could work. Put each one under ps4 on each corner.

I just had to get mine repaired, even though I had recently dusted it and it was clean inside.

The problem was the THERMAL PASTE on the CPU.

You need to get new paste applied.

And since you have to unscrew so many things to get to it (with a T9 screwdriver, at that--who HAS one of those? It took me so long to find one in town), and disconnect some things including the wifi antenna, you may just break the thing entirely in trying to do it yourself. I advise you just take to a repair shop.

        Mine's worked swimmingly since.

          I do sadly lol

I bought a huge kit from Home Depot that included torx heads when I wanted to repair my sons Xbox One. Took it apart, new thermal paste, and in the end it was the power brick that was the issue.

But yes, start with a good dust cleaning, thermal paste, and be careful if you lift it up any. Make sure its even on all four sides as to not knock the disc off level and scratch it.

If you can't land a PS5, try to find the final release PS4 (such as the RDR2 bundle)

As long as I'm not running a disc, it barely heats up, and the fan noise was cut considerably.
