this is what I say too. thankfully I haven't burned out on the Show (or baseball in general... well, not since 1994-1996) but when I do take an occasional weekend off from the Show, NBA2K scratches an itch the Show just can't reach. and basketball isn't even my 2nd or 3rd or even 4th favorite sport. but 2k basketball delivers what I need, when I need. it's got my hookup, it's got the fix. starting to jones for some NBA now. this might just be one of those 2k lost weekends lol

but as for the Show, yeah, take a break, OP.

But, that was during a time when I was still actively playing ball myself. Now that I've gotten older(46) and the game has changed from how it was played when I was in my prime, I feel detached from it; not that there is anything wrong with how the game is played now, I was just so used to and preferred when it was a traditional Big Man's game. So now, when I play 2k, I just don't get any enjoyment out of it.

As for video games in general, I still have a love for them. I don't have the time to enjoy them like I used to with a wife and son and other obligations. I look at my game catalogue and say to myself, there is no way you can play all of those games. I will say that there are a couple of games on the horizon that I'm extremely excited about...ESBC Boxing and EA Sports College Football. With them bringing college football back, I know the juices will get flowing again.

Maybe it's just a season for you and after a while, you'll return...or maybe you're moving on to a different season in your life that includes leaving gaming behind. Whichever it is, it's okay...embrace it!

I look at my collection of games and consoles and I think and hope that my son will be into video games one day like I am now. He's only 1 1/2 so he's not there yet, but I'm hoping he's a chip off the ole block. Would be great to have someone to play video games with.

Same boat here. I always buy “the big 3” (MLBTS, NBA2K, and Madden).

Last year was the last time I bought them and will not be buying again. The prominence of the fake team, card collecting modes have just killed any joy I’ve had for the games and the trend will only get worse.

It was a fun run, but sadly now it’s over.

                  Re: That’s it for me

I posted this thread a few days ago. I took a step back, took a few days off and hoped back on. It’s odd because a few weeks ago I had posted how much this game means to me. I’ve been out of work due to health concerns and I just lost my brother. So it’s been hard to enjoy much of anything.

I’m not putting it down. I’m not following someone else’s roster, slider’s, settings. I know what works for me. And I’ll stick with that until it doesn’t. This happens to quite a few people. My best advice is do what works for you. Find your sweet spot and enjoy the game as you want to. I really do appreciate the feedback , thank you.

Welcome back…..understood. As I get deeper into my season I will take a few days and not play…..then jump back in. Game is a great diversion.

                            Re: That’s it for me

I am not quite there yet but I do think it is the lack of innovation through out the years. I mean the Show always has played the best game of baseball in my mind but for me I just feel as consoles got more powerful I would have felt presentation and announcers graphics and more options and smarter cpu GM's would have been getting better. But if you think about all sports games they have been stuck for quite some time. Madden for instance is really not much different than it was 5 or 6 years ago. Boring bland and very clunky in my opinion. I guess the 2k sports line tries to do more with making the game more like a presentation better than all of the sports titles and I do not see any other franchises trying this. I guess by now I would have felt this would have been expanded on since NFL 2k5 but 18 years later that game still holds a presentation advantage over most games. I know not all of you care about presentation but for me it really makes the game feel more realistic and less repetitive as it does today. But again if I am in the minority then that is probably why it will never get done or be focused on in the future. That is just my 2 cents.

I’ve been a member of OS since 2011 when I had a different user name. I’ve learned a lot from people on this site and always looked forward to the camaraderie of individuals who enjoy baseball gaming as much as I used to. The Show is the only game I play, it’s actually the only game I’ve owned in a long time. But it’s time for me to put this down.

I’ve lost any and all enjoyment in this game and I’m not exactly sure how or when that happened. It’s not the game either. It’s just me. It’s this constant changing slider’s, levels, restarting my franchise repeatedly. It truly doesn’t make any sense. I’m not even really sure what it is I’m looking for. This has been taking place since 2020. Long gone seem to be the days of me just starting my franchise, changing pitch speed only, if that and playing the full season. I’m not sure what caused this but certainly it’s drained me of any enjoyment of the game. And it sucks.

I’ve had some great memories and teams and some of both I’d just rather forget. I wish you all luck this season and with your experience with the show!
First off, let me say this thread wasn't what I thought it was going to be. I understand where you're coming from. While I still love The Show I have found myself excited about a new game, get it and not keep playing it. This usually happens on an action title. The sports games can still hold me as I enjoy my created virtual sports world.

I hope you find something else or you can come back to it after a while. But sometimes we just move on from things we once loved. I thank you for sharing and hope you stick around the forums.
