Bunting

Really struggling this year with bunts. Any advice with technique, the ball rockets off the bat, usually straight to an infielder to set up easy double plays.

I’ve kept my finger on triangle until contact as well as releasing triangle just before contact, in an attempt to cushion the impact. Neither has worked for me :-(.

If using zone hitting place the pci towards the top of the strike zone. If using directional I typically just push the left stick either straight down to deaden the ball or if I see a infielder way back or I know isn’t the greatest fielder I’ll influence in that direction. I don’t think you are the only one that struggles with bunting it’s been a few years of this and seems to affect the cpu just as much as the user.. I hope my advice helps.

I don’t really try bunting because of all the rockets but I tried a drag bunt last night and it behaved like a perfectly executed sacrifice. It was my first bunt attempt with this years game so I have no idea if that was a one off or if drag hunts are deadened more than sacrifices

Bunting has sucked for years in this series.
Of course, bunting is a lost art in MLB too, so though us small ball purists may hate it, but I thing The Show actually got it right.

Yes, bunting this yr is definitely a lot harder than the previous seasons. I’m gonna start practicing more, especially with speedsters such as Brandon Nimmo, Starling Marte, Francisco Lindor, even with guys such as Luis Guillorme who handles the bat really well in real life, in every season i always use the surprise element of small ball, & bunting guys home, just to score runs.

Playing solo, I just Quick sim sacrifices and any bunts for hits. Not ideal, but at least the result is based on ratings and not if I can make the controls work right.
