Hot zones… how accurate are they?

I’m just watching the Jays game with game day on the mlb app and I’ve noticed several (most) of the Jays hot zones are very different from the hot zones in the show.

Are The Shows zones very accurate or perhaps out of date?

They are dynamic in franchise correct?

I can answer the second part; yes, they are dynamic in franchise....though it appears to be only for actual played games - but I have not gone through a full multi-year sim to confirm that (nor will I).
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

I wish they'd scrap them, personally.

DD players are nerfed anyway. Why should Tony Gwynn, with 120+ contact rating, get an EXTRA boost? Or name any number of guys with 100+ power rating.

As far as the default roster, with all due respect, there is NO WAY they researched 800 or so players hitting tendencies.

This is another thing that should be editable if they really want this to be a functional part of the game.

I would prefer they just take them out and let the game stand on player ratings.

They are completely inaccurate. A few years ago i made a roster and edited every batter to 0. Visually they still had the same exact charts at 0. The hot zones did not change to all gray or even blue at all.

Doesn't the hot zone data come from Inside Edge, so if they are wrong in game, it's MLB's fault?

They are dynamic but only change in played games. I have tested and they do not change in simulation.

They start out where they are no matter the ratings and will change based on played games. They do not change in simulated games. I know it requires a good number of at bats to start changing them. Don't know the number but the dynamics of it are slow and not game to game. Long term ratings will impact with played at bats.

              Franchise games only?

Or will they change in other game modes as well?

I honestly do not know. I would think they stay the same in exhibition mode as they don't track. And I have never played MTO so I do not know. I would think they also stay the same in online mode as to not cause an unfair advantage.

I have only ever done extensive franchise mode testing. I discovered they don't change in sim games back in 19 when I was deep diving into draft class editing.
