Re: The Supplication of a Once Y2Y Franchise Player
so I guess I can see why a y2y carry-over may not have worked going from 20 to 21 because of the expanded roster size,
but even if it was just a brief return for y2y and the ability to carry-over 21 to 22, I wonder what the issue is that is too great for the Studio to overcome. like Knight Templar says, it's a mysteryOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: The Supplication of a Once Y2Y Franchise Player
With Y2Y, let's say you have a prospect who is currently a CAP (created using the game's create player engine). If during the next year's game he's been scanned, does his face scan version get implemented into your Y2Y carry over, or would it still be the CAP? Because if the latter, that's a huge limitation to carry over saves.Comment

and even if SDS had eventually made exporting scanned players, then importing scanned players into an existing franchise, you'd still lose the stats your CAP had already accomplished
definitely lots of limitations, but still a y2y feature w/limitations is preferable to to no y2y featuresOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: The Supplication of a Once Y2Y Franchise Player
Well the premise of my original post still holds its merit, but I'm actually not going back to '21. Reason being, for those that followed along with my franchise know that I ran into some bumps while doing an offseaon that caused me some grief. Well, before I bought '22, I had found a save point was prior to this all happening and was going to play from there. Thing is, that was the same spot that I'm currently in '22.
So after debating back and forth and again losing valuable gaming time, I decided to continue playing '22 since I'm in same spot in '21, with the hopes of Y2Y saves returning in '23 (likely not happening but I'll continue to dream) and then if not, I'll just stick with '22 and continue playing my franchise.
So not sure I needed to share that with the community, but for whatever its worth and for whomever cares, no one..LOL, there is my decision.
I'm so ready to get out of my own way and just play...I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: The Supplication of a Once Y2Y Franchise Player
Thats funny. I was really thinking the same thing. I may stick with '20 but its not like I hate '22. I just hate leaving behind my other Franchises. But I realized I don't really have to. I can have two Baseball games. As long as I am having fun then what the hell right. Play one until I need a break or get the urge for my other Franchise and just move back and forth. Time itself will sort out what I want to do. I think over the course of time I will natural migrate to one game consistently so just let it happen.
Honestly my aim is '23 if no carry over saves happen. I think they will add the new scheduling system and as long as they don't change the Franchise mode too drastically that may be where I land for a few years. In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Re: The Supplication of a Once Y2Y Franchise Player
I used to have the same optimism for the return of Season mode. Unfortunately, when they remove features, they don't come back. Even if y2y did return, you could never trust they wouldn't remove it again in the future. Twice in the last 6 years I've lost tons of progress and had to start from scratch in order to keep playing the updated version.
I rebooted last year thinking y2y would come back. When it didn't, I didn't purchase.
If you want franchise-type control without having to worry about y2y, the best choice is OOTPComment

I can see myself enjoying 20 and 22 for the next decade. And I am not nearly as optimistic about Y2Y ever seeing the light of day again since the move to multi platform. I simply think it is not even on their priority list.
Shame. But that is where my thinking is and has been since they removed it. A lot of things and dynamics have changed with the game in certain aspects.
I just try to enjoy what I have and not even think about features returning or franchise improving.....the trend really shows the way it is going. I am not getting worked up about it.
The fact we have so much content on 20 and 22 is a great “modern day” version of baseball.....I am totally at peace with my video game baseball universe LOL.

Re: The Supplication of a Once Y2Y Franchise Player
There is no good reason Y-2-Y saves shouldn't be back at this point.
A PC release would help. At some point there would be utilities to dump and port the files/data from one 'chise to another, as we have with Madden.
Time consuming. Unnecessary. But at least it would be possible to carry on franchise progress.
... the Switch may be able to pull that off also. There are utilities available already. But they look insanely complex to use in my (limited) experience so far.You want free speech?

Re: The Supplication of a Once Y2Y Franchise Player
Wow.
I could not have said it better myself. Thank you for clearing up my own thoughts.
I have been struggling playing '22. It is a great game, probably the best ever done. But it feels empty and I am unmotivated because its all for naught because next year I will just have to start again. I found myself going back to '20.
Yes it is not as good, has the old clunky financial system and all of its legacy issues. But like you I have an Indian Franchise that is over a decade in. I have a Fictional Franchise with one of the best roster sets ever made that is 6 years in. I find myself missing these worlds that I have watched develop and helped create. The Baseball season is a long grind, that we all love. Loosing Y2Y saves just makes that grind pointless if its a one and done.
I thought that playing with current Rosters and all of the new stuff would make up for the loss of all of my hard work and joy with the worlds I had been playing in. But it is just not catching for me. I just finished Spring Training in '22 because I just cant get the motivation to play. A few days ago I loaded up '20 and my old Bacons Fictional Franchise and played 5 games straight. Cheering and cussing at the TV all day long. I love these guys. I am invested in their future and the future of my teams. I just am not making that connection in '22.
So thank you CountryBoy. You have saved the game again. I know I am not your favorite person right now. I deserve that. I have been thru some tough times the last few years and turned down some dark roads I should not have. Depression, alcohol and other things were not my friend and I certainly wasn't one to you. I apologize for that. You have always treated me well and with kindness you did not deserve my treatment of you. I have been mending fences and sent out a lot of hard PM's. But if I could figure out a time and way I wanted to say this in "public" because it is the right thing to do.
So I wish you all the best and remember folks. As the mighty Bacon is fond of saying. Baseball is Better.
Love you all.
Peace
Being a real stickler for statistical fidelty and realism I re-downloaded my versions of the show 17 and 18, loaded the original roster from 17 and skipped through the season. I then carried that save over to 18 and repeated. I began my first real year on the show 19 and thoroughly enjoyed it. I connected with the players in the league, got so familiar with the rosters and loved making new prospects to inject new talent into the league. I continued it on the show 20 and was truly devastated when I found out the game would not have carryover saves for 21. Needless to say I didn't buy the game last year and just continued playing 20.
When 22 dropped this year a held out for about 2 weeks before I purchased the game with the intent of starting a new franchise with MLB rosters. That lasted for about 4 or 5 days before my regret of buying the game rushed over me. I love the gameplay, love the stadium creator and the fact that they removed some of the ridiculous restrictions on players that I was accustomed to from the Show 20 (I still don't understand why they capped changeup speeds at 84mph in 20). Needless to say I'm back playing my franchise in 20, haven't booted up 22 in over a month and I've decided that if I need a realistic baseball fix I'mm just going to purchase OOTP from now on.Comment

Re: The Supplication of a Once Y2Y Franchise Player
The big takeaway from this thread is to play the video games that bring you joy.
I miss carryover saves and it was hard finally turning the page from my franchise, but I am enjoying playing with a new team in the latest MLB The Show, and that's what I'm focused on.
Whichever version of The Show you all settle on, I hope you enjoy the experience.Currently Playing:

Possibly the only positive from all this; a clean start.
If they continue to improve the player models, I might do the same.
To be able to launch a franchise in moments.. starting at any point in history.. with stats, awards.. < head exploding emoji here >You want free speech?

Re: The Supplication of a Once Y2Y Franchise Player
after I cried because Santa didn't get me the E.T. video game for Christmas 1982, when I finally did get it and knew immediately how awful it was, my dad still forced me to play it all summer of '83
maybe if it had a carry-over feature from Atari 2600 of yesteryear to today's PlayStation, that would be enough to make it enjoyable lolOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23
