Players not on the All Star team even if they lead in votes

So I'm at the All Star break in my franchise and Adbert Alzolay has had an amazing season leading the league in wins and era and was the top vote getter for the All Star game yet when I got to it he wasn't on the squad in his spot was the person with the eight highest votes Chris Bassit. He last pitched the Thursday before the break so it would be his normal time to pitch. In his spot was. Is this some kind of bug or anyone have an idea on why this happened?

The all-star roster selection can be "odd" at times, but I don't recall ever having the leading vote getter at a particular position not be on the roster, unless they were injured.

Was Alzolay injured at all, even if not on the IL?

My first season playing the All-Star game roster seemed pretty good

This happened to me in MLB The Show 21. During my franchise season, most of my starting lineup was leading in votes for their position but when I played the All-Star game only 3 of my position guys ended up on the team and only my closer made it. All of my guys had big leads in voting so it wasn't like they lost their lead the day before the game. Not sure why this ended up happening.

Part of that may be due to the game having to assemble the roster so that each team has a rep and each position is fulfilled to a certain number.

I really wish they would let you choose the all start rosters. Even if there were still restrictions about have 1 rep from each teams and a certain number at each position, or the fan vote still determined the starters just like IRL

Here's a screenshot of the votes the day of the All Star game and one of the pitchers who made the All Star roster. Now I have no problems with deGrom being on the All Star squad who wouldn't. But he's been on the dl twice for extended periods of time. I don't know why it would have him on the roster over a guy who hasn't missed a start and leads the league in both wins and era

Was DeGrom the only Met on the roster?

Re: Players not on the All Star team even if they lead in votes

I think a lot of this also had to do with how many other players from your team make the roster, compounded by the fact that there are only 5 SP slots for the All Star Roster, when there should be many more.

I had Tarik Skubal as the top vote getter for SPs, but he didn't make the team.

However, I had Baez, Torkelson, Cabrera, Gregory Soto, and my created player on the team.

Casey Mize, and Francisco Rodriguez were also top 5 in SPs, but didn't make the team.

However, I was able to get one of Mize/Skubal on the team by changing their position to CP the Monday before the All Star Game (they replaced one of the closers) then changing it back to SP after the game.

NBA 2K allows you to do this. Once the All-Star teams are selected, you're allowed to go through the roster and swap out players of the same position. The same thing with regular-season awards, you're allowed to swap out MVPs and the other awards.

That would be nice to have but with some limitations
