The brighter the color the better in terms of hot zone (red)

The brighter the color the worse a hitter is in that particular quadrant in terms of cold zone (blue)

I use zone hitting so I can't answer the influence question.

There's not a whole lot to it.

With zone hitting you control the PCI (PLATE COVERAGE INDICATOR) and move it to the zone of the pitch to make contact. The more centered the pitch is in the PCI, the more solid contact will be made.

In '22 they introduced the ANCHOR where you can preset the PCI and it will stay locked in that spot unless you use the L-stick to move it. This is a great way to sit on a particular zone without having to worry about getting the PCI to that spot once the pitch is delivered.
