    Classics roster guy, so neither.

I think I may go with the universal DH starting with 1998 expansion though.

Does anyone else notice the game doesn't always count a successful sacrifice correctly in the box score and season stats? I think maybe if you don't square around really early the game assumes it was a bunt-for-hit attempt and won't give you a SAC, but I've had times where I squared around pretty early and didn't get a SAC.

I love having SACs. Feels so good.

I hate the extra-innings runner rule. That was an easy decision to turn off.

I've played with the universal DH on in a few franchises and enjoyed it. For a video game, where so much of playing is tracking stats, I think it's better to have an extra hitter.

That being said, I'm currently playing traditional DH rules. I love the extra strategy and double-switching. And interleague games, especially at the AL park, feel different since I'm using the DH there.

I play my franchise with both rules: universal DH and runner on 2nd.

My only complaint with the universal DH is that it doesn't reflect on some of the season awards. For instance, there is no NL Silver Slugger for DH but the NL Silver Slugger for a pitcher remains but it just says no eligible players. Then for the All-Star game voting, there's no DH voting category when the game is at an NL park. I'm sure this will all be corrected next season but I wish it was corrected for this season.

I use the DH but will not use the extra runner.

I imagine at some point in the near future Manferd will institute a rule every new half inning will begin with a runner born on second base.
and when that finally happens, I'll accept it into my Show-niverse.

because if it's a good rule to have in the 10th inning,
it'll be ten times better to play by the same rules in the first inning

Smoltz actually suggested this (sort of) during the Braves-Astros game last weekend.

I think they thought about it, that's why it happens. They probably want to break it.

Both. I've always strongly disliked pitchers batting and don't like wearing out my bullpen in long extra innings games. It would be nice if DD added the DH so it reflects current MLB rules.

Re: Do you use the new rules in your Franchise?

I do in a Diamondback's franchise I have going, though begrudgingly. I am very torn on the Universal DH, on the one hand it's nice, on the other hand I definitely feel you lose some of the strategy side of the game taking it out, it has made for some interesting and exciting moments in the past and I'll admit while I like the DH I will miss pitchers hitting.

The extra inning runner rule is terrible in my opinion. Some of the most memorable games in my opinion have been games that stretch deep into extra innings. This remains the same in The Show for me, I still remember a game from years ago where it stretched into the 17th inning when I hit a walk off home run, maybe the most memorable game I've ever played in The Show.

But alas I have it on in my DBacks franchise, mainly because I become obsessed with replicating what's on the field even if it's too my detriment. Though I have been considering starting up an Astros franchise with the newest OSFM rosters, time will tell if I can bring myself to turn it off. It's certainly a good rule for keeping players healthy and fresh but man it does take something away from the game IMO.

The new rules from yesterday are they easly enough to be put into next years game ? Except for the pitch clock which will probably not have the real stadium clocks ? And will there be any reason for Sony to make the bases bigger like in real life ?

The shift rule would be easy to put in lazily. But, it's important to note that it doesn't ban all shifts, it just restricts them. It's a pretty small change against right handed batters (basically 3B, SS, and 2B all take like 4 steps to the left), bigger against lefties. So SDS should probably put new, compliant shifts in the game (and while they're at it, change some of their shift logic; teams still play guys to pull with runners on base, but not in The Show) but it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't. They should have anticipated the DH rule being universal and didn't, so I don't expect them to try and anticipate what new shifts will look like).

Pitch Clock gameplay wise shouldn't be too hard. The game already has an internal one for online play (I think it's quicker than 15 seconds though). Just gotta change the penalty for violating that to an automatic ball instead of a fastball down the middle. I could see them holding off on adding the pitch clocks to stadiums until they can see where they go in each stadium. They'll have to add a clock element to the UI anyway for players that play with different cameras.

Same goes for the pickoff rule. The game already limits pickoffs online if the opposing player isn't leading off. So they can just expand that limit.

The hardest thing, I'd think, would be the base sizes. It could cause some wonky animations and glitches.
