    Free Agents

I’m sure this has been discussed but I’m trying to figure out a way to sign a free agent in my franchise. When I go to sign a free agent I get a message saying “you cannot afford to offer this contract at this time” is there a workaround to this? Thanks

    Re: Free Agents

Are you in season or in the offseason?

In season its simply because your current budget doesn't afford you to sign the player. You would need to create budget space by moving players.

In the offseason that message pops up because the game sits aside x amount of budget space (its unknown what this amount is) so that you can sign arbitration available players and contract renewal players later in the offseason. Again, you would need to create budget space by roster moves, but how many to get to the desired money level to sign your free agent is unknown
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

in previous years you could use stubs to get more money for the franchise budget, i cannot find how to do it again, or SDS removed this option.

        That option has been removed

Try offering a lower contract until you no longer get the message. That should tell you how much salary you need to dump to be able to afford the free agent.

          Then dump salary.

During the offseason that's a risky strategy because you might dump salary and the free agent signs elsewhere but that's the workaround.
