The Show vs Reality
Sitting back drunk and watching the Marlins vs Dodgers. The Marlins switched their starting pitcher after the 2nd. I’m a full on Franchise guy, and I believe if you have a starting pitcher on your team that can’t make it past 5 innings, then he shouldn’t be on your team. I guess this is where fantasy and reality collide in my opinion lol.Tags: None -

Re: The Show vs Reality
It was a bullpen game. Marlins "starter" was a reliever (Tommy Nance, 23 stamina in game from what I see). He pitched 2 scoreless, passed it off to the next reliever. Looks like they're going with that while they're 5th starter is on the IL.

Re: The Show vs Reality
the reality is the Marlins can't afford the army they want, so they must settle for the army they have.
and on the other foot, right now the Dodgers are playing like you'd expect an arcade video game team to play: out of this world. so that makes LA the Show

Re: The Show vs Reality
He was probably one of those openers. I hate it too. I grew up in the time of starters going deep into games. Loved watching a starter try to nail down a complete game. I hate the almost complete absoluteness that analytics has become in today's game along with the obsession with the "three true outcome" philosophy. I agree that there is a place for it in the game as part of a decision, but there is something to be said for going with your gut. I saw a video on YouTube of the 1995 ALDS where Randy Johnson basically beat the Yankees. It made me think that nothing like that would happen in today's game and it made me sad. I am a fan of neither the Yankees nor Mariners but I remember watching that game on the edge of my seat. When the Unit came in in that last game, the excitement was off the charts. In today's game, there would have been multiple pitching changes which would have killed any excitement.
OK, this old man is getting off his soapbox.Comment
