MLB Recognizing MLBPA representation of Minor Leaguers

Manfred informed the MLBPA that MLB will voluntarily recognize a Minor League Players Union. There may be more steps to get through, but this could potentially open up SDS being able to use any and all minor league players, not just prospects that they've reached agreements with or MLB veterans who played in the majors the previous seasons. So veterans that spend an entire season in the Minor Leagues that are usually missing from the launch roster and have to be created and added by roster makers (like this season Dee Strange-Gordon, Greg Bird, Sam Huff) might still be able to be in the roster at launch.

This is indeed promising news for minor leaguers and fans of accurate rosters as well. It would be awesome if the show would debut a more robust franchise mode with a more accurate draft and development system along with true full minor league rosters next year. Doubt it, but it would be awesome.

It's still a ways away before there's a chance to license all the minor league players presuming that the final stage for genuinely unionizing is negotiating a CBA. Don't see how that gets done before the new season but perhaps the partnership with AFL-CIO can keep things moving forward.

A CBA would be separate from licensing agreements. The MLBPA makes their agreement with things like SDS independently of MLB. But they would certainly prioritize the CBA. They're going to start negotiating this offseason.

It would depend on if they can just fold minor leaguers into the existing licensing agreement with SDS. If they can, it's possible they could be in the game next year. Seems unlikely, but I think MLB The Show 24 is very possible.

It would be great to see a game where not only do we have full AAA and AA rosters, but even some Class-A rosters as well. With that said, I'm sure it will be a lot of work for the SDS staff to add so many players in the game especially if they plan on having facescans for all players. Either way it will be extremely helpful to get as many minor league players in the game. I personally like to start my Franchise in mid-June so that I can have more minor league players included but there still ends up being a lot of players missing when I get to the trade deadline and try to copy a lot of the big trades that happen.
