How will the shift ban affect gameplay in MLB The Show 23?

Obviously I’m no game developer so I’m wondering how implementing the shift ban next year could affect defensive gameplay.

Is it simply a matter of coding players to be in traditional alignments and letting the ball physics dictate results or is there more involved?

I feel the defensive side of the game plays pretty good right now but am thinking maybe the shift ban may break the defence the first year.

I don't think it will be the that big of a deal.

My guess is they will just eliminate the EXTREME SHIFT right/left option for the infield positioning.

When in the field I've never used the extreme shift option and haven't noticed any ill effects on gameplay/defensive play in all the years its been an option in the Show.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

In a perfect world, they'd include new shifts. Since, contrary to how people keep referring to it, they aren't banning shifts. They're banning THE shift, the one with a 4th player in RF. You'll very likely see infield shifts like the ones below that still accomplish a lot of what the big shifts did but still follow the rules.

What I think you'll actually see is what countryboy said. They'll just eliminate the extreme shifts as an option and call it a day. SDS doesn't do a very good job with shifts as is. They turn off all the directional shifts by default as soon as there are runners on base anyway (contrary to what the game does, teams do still sometimes play hitter to pull in double play depth, and they'll still move their outfielders).
