Year after year, people pay 10-20 games in April (if that) in a "test franchise", draw a bunch of conclusions about the game, and start tinkering with sliders. Even less satisfied, they make more conclusions and continue tinkering. Then they start their "real franchise" (back in April again) and see the same "issues". They get frustrated, make more changes. By then, "Oh....so and so came out with a new roster...I should start over since I am only in April". Rinse and repeat all year long.

The thing people don't seem to appreciate is that seasons evolve and you HAVE to account for that. April will be a low-offense month with SPs tiring more quickly, batters struggling, and few offensive explosions. May begins mixing it up a little more. As summer rolls around and the temps pick up, balls carry more and you really see a huge array of outcomes. September can be rough; I can't quite explain how, but it anecdotally seems like pitchers begin wearing-down a bit and it can lead to surprising results. Get to the next season, and it's the same cycle again. The story-telling you get from this is incredible - IF YOU LET IT HAPPEN.

If all you're doing is playing games in one portion of the season (or playing a few games in multiple parts), you're not getting a complete picture. Unpopular opinion, but you can't get that complete picture unless you play every game for a full season (otherwise, its like you're judging a movie based on short clips without having seen it all the way through). Sadly, every year, narratives get circulated by people who are too impatient to play a full 162 game season before making such claims and it gets circulated through the same echo chambers over and over. THAT is your "majority" and it is entirely self-inflicted. And yes, this is a very harsh accounting of the franchise community - but I've been there myself and have overcome it.

It's not even about sliders (because well, default slider settings are themselves, a slider setting), it's about the mindset. I have a setup/difficulty where I win and lose at a very reasonable rate based on my roster's quality and selected interfaces. I know the stats will take care of themselves and will be reflective of player ratings. I know regression to the mean will ALWAYS happen. You can get this with or without sliders; but at some point, you HAVE TO LET GO and let it all ride.

All that matters to me is one thing - seeing the story unfold. And right now, I could spend hours telling you stories about my franchise....it's more "Real" to me than whatever is happening in real life. I don't get this out of any other sports series and I don't think I ever will.

You hit the nail on the head. And that has been my biggest problem this year. I play for a few weeks then get a roster update and I restart and I did that and changed teams like 9 times and now I am like well might as well wait until next year. I totally got no story out of 22 and it is all my fault. I am hoping 23 I will be better. Some people new years resolution will be to lose weight Mine will be start a season and stick with it

Wish they had the updated playoff structure. Really hope we can transfer our RTTS or Franchise modes to next year.

Agreed, such a shame... I'm guessing they wont patch in, if this patch didnt include the new format.

Too bad, I would have totally purchased the game again just to play playoffs mode.

I have not made into the play-offs in my franchise yet. What's missing in the format? It looks like they added the 3rd or did they! Did they leave out the 3-games Wildcard series?

I assumed it was! I never viewed the playoffs mode on the home screen of the game!

I would view the Wildcard standings & it never dawned on me. I have to get back the lead in the NL East.

I will be purchasing MLBTS 23' for sure.

I'm personally glad the new playoff format isnt in, at least for this year. They are butchering MLB with each passing year.

Honestly, it's another (very) strong reason I may stick with '22; I truly hate it that much.

My main issue with continuing to play this game moving forward is the same issue many are experiencing this year, and around this time - the playoff structure change. It does play a fantastic game of baseball on the field, but it's already inaccurate to the real MLB in that major way (and in some many lesser ones). I honestly hope I'll be able to enjoy the gameplay still being similar to what it is now in a future version of the game that does include that structure change (next year, hopefully).

It is what it is - the playoff change went in too late in the dev cycle and by this point it's pretty clear it's an unpatchable problem.

Yep that is the problem I am having but I am sure I will have one last play of this in the off season before the new game come March next year. that's when I get the itch again

The commentary and presentation has definitely improved over the course of patches. This has easily been the most enjoyable show for me in quite some time.

I would probably stick with this years game next year if it weren't for the regular season schedule changes coming next year. Being a franchise only player, this will finally eliminate the issue of the show not being able to implement the rotating interleague schedule.

I have that same thought. Even if next years game is exactly the same, the schedule change will have me buying the game. The inability to have rotating interleague schedules have always bugged me.

i think they should let u do what u want

have only 4 teams per legaue in the playoffs go for it
have 8 teams per leaaue cool

the choies shouild be 4'5'6'7'8'

u want 2 div per league instead of 3 go for it

u want your pitcher to throw 125 pitches a game u can u want to be the rays as well that great
