Re: When Do You Get 'Rosteritis' in Your Franchise Mode?

I definitely have rosteritus, especially in the IRL off-season. I also have attribute-itus and make many attribute changes [emoji3596] (especially Astros) along with position changes, even assigning 2ndary positions. I also have overall-itus too.

I get struggle with the off-season feeling like I have to many young players that don't belong at lower levels. Just seems overwhelming trying to figure out 92 ? players.

Question: If I set 40-man to user control, but call-ups/send downs, waivers to cpu control, will the cpu basically manage the minors and leave my 40-man alone?

Not 100% positive, but fairly certain that that'll be the case. I typically just set up my minor league teams at the beginning of the season, making sure that the correct # of pitchers/players are there, and try to keep the 18 year olds in A. Any time there's an injury, I just let the CPU fix my lineup/rotation.

Obviously I'll adjust if the roster goes down to like 23/24 men, in which case I just call up someone to fill the hole at each level.

Re: When Do You Get 'Rosteritis' in Your Franchise Mode?

The last couple years, I started applying the ratings adjustments in my franchise (so if Bryce Harper gets a -12 to Con v L, I drop that attribute in my Franchise). I mostly do this because the thing that bothered me the most was young prospects that came up and had an immediate impact might not be usable for years in franchise. That bothered me. But this way, guys like Spencer Strider or Michael Harris can still end up being studs for me, which I enjoy.

Things as far as transactions go, it kinda depends. I didn't get any kind of urge to restart around the trade deadline last year. But I absolutely did in '21 when the Braves got Joc Pederson, Jorge Soler, Eddie Rosario, and Adam Duvall. And I know I kinda got the feeling in the offseason when the Braves got Sean Murphy.

I'm still undecided about who is going to be my franchise team in 23. But I think if I go Mariners, it might curb that feeling even more (and use like a Braves theme team a lot in DD).

          Re: Can't just be me

          Honestly? Never.

I have played franchise modes my entire life.

Once I start. That's it. It becomes my own world with my own stories.

I DESPISE restarts. I feel as if I just wasted so much time for nothing when that happens.

Before I owned a Playstation I played the MLB2K series. My franchise was corrupted about 4 seasons in. I was so furious that I bought a PS3 within a week and have been a show guy ever since.

I typically get in 7-8 seasons a cycle. Playing 1 game a series, and all playoff games.

Typically with sports games I simulate the first season. That way I know the rosters will never be “accurate” and I can also put my stamp on the team.

But lately I’ve gotten into fictional rosters. I loved Bacons on 20/21. I just recently downloaded one on 22 and have been impressed.

It has truly been a gamechanger. You really get invested in these fictional characters. I highly recommend it. I didn’t think I’d be into it but I fell in love.

yep, Bacon is the cure for the common rosteritis.
it's a shame, Sony was on the right track 2014-2020 w/y2y saves, only to get derailed the last couple years.
w/o y2y a lot of great work in the aftermarket roster business lost forever

doesn't make sense, y2y encourages consumers to buy every year, while no y2y enables you to say, meh, I'll skip a year every other year.
and y2y saves encourages people to put effort into custom rosters because they knew they were gonna be around a good while

sometimes people can't see the forest because the trees are in the way. crazy

sorry, I digress, real gear-grinder issue for me here
