    Batting order

Was just trying to get a consensus. Do you guys order your lineup more traditionally or today sabermetric approach of putting best hitter in #2 spot

I do kind of a hybrid. I try to group my high contact hitters in the top half of the order regardless of speed. But still group the best hitters at 3, 4, 5.

I do try to put my best hitter number 2 but if it makes sense for lineup balance/I can put another OBP guy in front of him, I do it. For example: playing with a current off-season roster as the White Sox, I was putting Luis Robert #2 with his combo of power and speed. Then they signed Benintendi and I now bat him between Tim Anderson and Robert.

        I go more traditional.

In my ongoing franchise in 20 with an AL team, I put speed and contact at 1 and 2. My best hitter then hits 3 with power behind him at 4, 5, and 6. The bottom 3 is then the rest.

The job of my top 2 spots in my lineup is to get on base.

I do a mix of both. Tend to have High Contact, Lower Power in the leadoff spot, since contact ability seems like for me has a better chance of you getting on base than the discipline ability, but my sabermetric mind tends to want high OBP. For example, if I played the current iteration of the Mets, I would go with this lineup:

          1. Brandon Nimmo, CF
          2. Francisco Lindor, SS
          3. Carlos Correa, 3B
          4. Pete Alonso, 1B
          5. Dan Vogelbach, DH
          6. Starling Marte, RF
          7. Jeff McNeil, 2B
          8. Mark Canha, LF
          9. Omar Narvaez, C

Nimmo is both high OBP and high contact. If I went traditional, I would have Marte or McNeil at the leadoff, but I know Nimmo gives me the best OBP chance. Also pay attention to bat handiness a lot, try not to have a bunch of same handed hitters three times in a row, if I can handle it. I like Lindor more than Correa in the #2 spot. I know Sabermetrics tends to go with Correa at #2, but with Lindor being a switch hitter, having better gap power, and higher walk ability gives him the edge in my mind.
