I dont think he meant it as an insult. No need to get so triggered. From a defensive standpoint he was not a great fielder. Was he a winner 100% would have taken him for sure. He knew how to hit in big spots. But defense he was not a wizard

As for the impact it does not have much for me, And that has nothing to do with Jeter, it more has to do with I always play traditional franchise mode I never touch legends. Hell my favorite Met of all time Mike Piazza is in the game and I never use him

Will say this though. As some who collects game I will pay for the Jeter cover. Much rather have that over Chisholm

I dont think the cover guys impact video games as much as marketing thinks.

these marketers wanna make an impact, they got to get guys like Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens and Pete Rose on their covers.

and then you are sure to hear about it lol

I got a story about Derek Jeter in The Show. I had just gotten my PS4 during the summer of 2014 and of course one of my first purchases was MLB 14 the Show. My favorite mode is RTTS and I was a SP on the Cubs and made my way up through the minors pretty quickly got called up and made my debut when the Yankees were playing the Cubs. Being that it was his last season it felt pretty special knowing that in future seasons I would not be able to face him and also because we had Year to year saves back then this was the last time my pitcher would ever face him in MLB the Show.

I was not able to strike him out though but from what I remember he grounded out and wasn't able to get a hit against me.

There is zero sales impact involved with Derek Jeter, or any other player, being on the MLB The Show on of the box covers.

                  I agree.

The only thing I care about on the cover is the year not who's on it. Only younger kids maybe care about the cover athlete.

As a fellow Mets fan, and being a New Yorker, whats on paper doesn't matter, Jeter was on news in NY almost every other night for great plays in the felid.

Jeter may not have been the best in the field but he certainly was not the worst.

"Truthfully, with the way he transcends media, life and baseball itself, Derek Jeter sits at the top of baseball’s Mount Olympus."

I know Mt. Olympus isn't as exclusive a club as Mt. Rushmore
(which Jeter most assuredly isn't on baseballs Mt. Rushmore)
but it seems like sometimes people think Mt. Olympus was more crowded than it really was.

and I'm not positive Jeter ranks in the top dozen ballplayers of all-time or resides on Mt. Olympus any more than Phil Rizzuto.
while both are certainly fine HoF'ers, I think the moniker ''Mt. Olympus'' was thrown around way too haphazardly .

maybe I'm just being overly semantic on the subject.
I guess if there is a Mt. Olympus of top dozen players who played between 1995 and 2015,
mon capitaine can go running up that hill

Obviously, as you can tell by my avatar that I'm a Boston fan, and yes, I can say without question Jeter is a class act who represented his team, and all of baseball, with aplomb and dignity. I have nothing but respect and admiration for how he handled himself on and off the field. And, if putting him on the cover brings more fans to The Show and baseball in general, I'm all for it!

However, to say he's on the Mount Olympus of baseball strains credulity. I'm not even sure he's in the top five of the storied New York Yankees franchise. Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Mantle, Berra, Ford, and Rivera are all Hall of Famers who were at one point in their respective careers the absolute best at their positions. Jeter never was that.

Again, Jeter is absolutely a Hall of Famer, and was the biggest, brightest star on an unbelievable dynasty, but he is not atop baseball's Mount Olympus as one the twelve best to ever play the game.
