Re: MLB The Show 23 Gameplay Feature Premiere - Plenty of Details
Def color me not impressed this year
No Year to Year Saves
No Roster or Stadium carry overs
No graphical upgrades
No Player Model updates
No New Face scans
No new grass or dirt (i remember MVP you could at least choose grass design)
And they want $70 for a Roster update and 1 new game mode?
Its getting sad to think a game I once loved and got excited to play every year is No Longer
Thankfully EA Golf comes out same week
May wait this year til Price drop- Truly SadComment

Haven't played The Show in years, but I'm kind of shocked to see that the grass still looks that bad. That was always my main issue with the graphics. Might sound like a minor complaint, but it always bothered me. This is a PS5 game, sheesh.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 23 Gameplay Feature Premiere - Plenty of Details
after the first impressions, i am very disappointed that the graphics have not been changed. so iI see no reason to buy the game. i'll stick with the 22er version and keep playing my francise and rtts.
the game manufacturers just get away with it and have no pressure to change anything. the sales figures speak AGAINST any improvements or changes. sportgames shouldn't have longterm motivation for us to buy a new version every year.
maybe next year or the year after that or when the PS 7 or 8 is out. :wink:at home in northern germanyComment

Re: MLB The Show 23 Gameplay Feature Premiere - Plenty of Details
Ok I love what they did with the throwing meter, this was much needed and makes fielding so much more dynamic and exciting.
Besides some UI changes and fresh paint here and there the graphics are once again exactly the same. As long as they keep this crossplay thing going between all consoles we’re just not getting anything better than this or the ps4’s will choke up. For a reason there haven’t been a graphical stream the last couple of years…
Hopefully everyone can get their hands on a ps5 or xbox series x this year so the install base is big enough to finally let console support go for machines that are now 10 years old!"When it's all set and done, reality is the best innovation."Comment

Re: MLB The Show 23 Gameplay Feature Premiere - Plenty of Details
Adding the DH in DD is definitely an improvement. In 22 even with American League teams DD had the pitcher batting.
In regard to Franchise and historic rosters I am left with a number of questions.
Will we still be able to choose no DH?
Will we be able to edit quirks when editing a player?
Will we be able to edit a player to make him two way from the start?
Will they be adding a lot more last names to the depleted last name database?
Will we be able to choose no batting helmet or no number on the jersey? (In DD there are several historic players without numbers)
We will see when we get to the presentation on Franchise, but I suspect it will be mostly or entirely about the revisions in the draft.
With 22 I took a break from Franchise and played mostly DD out of frustration of the lack of Y2Y roster saves. It was fun, but with moments it seemed more like an arcade than playing normal baseball.

Re: MLB The Show 23 Gameplay Feature Premiere - Plenty of Details
This gameplay feature has cemented the fact I won’t buy this game. And honestly being an owner of a Series X, I don’t feel compelled to pay for GamePass to play it either. It’s been the same game for years. Growing bored of it. Say what you want about Madden, but their graphics and presentation are great. And they’ve been adding to gameplay. Really addition ls. Not just tweaks.

Re: MLB The Show 23 Gameplay Feature Premiere - Plenty of Details
I've watched the stream a couple times now. Honestly I'm less impressed with it every time I watch it. I had really hoped for more this year. I'm going to buy the game just for the new playoff format, and new schedule. If it weren't for that, no way I'd pay 70 dollars on what is basically still a PS3 game. Just for reference, here is MLB 12 The Show on PS3. Enjoy.

Cracks me up that people are STILL holding out for some kind of graphical jump like SNES to N64 and N64 to GameCube/Xbox. Lol those jumps are never happening again. Time to move past it or you’re going to be perpetually disappointed.

Re: MLB The Show 23 Gameplay Feature Premiere - Plenty of Details
I dont really pay much attention to gameplay and new fielding stuff just doesnt excite me... I really just want them to add more history to franchise mode like player awards/transaction history ie trade, callup, sent down/ minor league stats/ post season stats sticking to each player profile page...then a franchise history page where we see past world series winners/losers/box scores of game/etc...to me this seems simple to add a column and track these things, its a basic thing that would create a world of difference for immersion in franchiseComment

You can look at other sports games, and then compare it to this one and tell that it isn't where it needs to be graphically. I agree jumps like you were talking about will never happen again. But when this looks identical to a PS3 game, there are problems.Cracks me up that people are STILL holding out for some kind of graphical jump like SNES to N64 and N64 to GameCube/Xbox. Except for a select few it seems the majority who have posted are very disappointed in what they have seen so far. I would say I wish the game makers could see this but with no forced competition not sure it would matter.
So next up is DD. Never really got into this mode but I know it brings them in some cash for sure.Mets Baseball, All Day Every Day

Re: MLB The Show 23 Gameplay Feature Premiere - Plenty of Details
Don't get me wrong, I love this game, and will love it this year as well I'm sure. It's still a fantastic game. But I'd say, yes I'm disappointed from what I saw yesterday. I was more so disappointed when I found the PS3 version that looks basically identical to the game we're going to be getting next month on a PS5. I play other games that look so beautiful on a PS5, and then when I fire up the Show it feels like I'm stepping back into 2012. I know this game is nowhere near where it could/should be at this point and it just makes me sad to a point.Except for a select few it seems the majority who have posted are very disappointed in what they have seen so far. I would say I wish the game makers could see this but with no forced competition not sure it would matter.
