Larger Base Pads Not In MLB The Show 23??
Overall I enjoyed today's gameplay preview, but I have to admit I was alarmed to hear the base pads would not be enlarged to reflect the new MLB rule changes this year.
This seems like a big miss from a gameplay and visual standpoint.Tags: None -

I’m kind of surprised it wasn’t in. But, really I don’t even know if it would have been that noticeable in the game. -

The fact that the base size and pitch clock weren't added in franchise is disappointing but not unexpected. SDS has no intention of creating a true BB SIM game. They go above and beyond to add little details to DD and competitive mode but franchise is the red headed stepchild to SDS and gets under the hood tweaks and refresh. These are the little things that should be included at a minimum but here we are playing a game on NG consoles that's still old gen quality.

Re: Larger Base Pads Not In MLB The Show 23??
In all fairness, the ground (and anything touching it) hasn’t been updated in a decade. Perhaps we should say, “well maybe next decade” the textures (and the size of the bases) may see an upgrade.
It’s really a shame. Having modeled 3D objects and modded objects for other games — it really doesn’t take much effort to enhance the size of an asset that’s already been built. Can’t tell if it’s laziness or pure negligence. Either way, how could any dev be happy, or even satisfied with this? Is it to spite the community at this point? Most assets in this game are still ps3/ps4 era. I just can’t help but wonder what’s really going on at the studio. They would benefit from a new engine as well. Until then, same ol same ol.Comment

Interesting theory. Now, you're sure it's not out of spite because they're lazy, negligent, and secretly hate us? Alright man.Comment

Re: Larger Base Pads Not In MLB The Show 23??
I'm not concerned with the bases being a little smaller
because IIRC, a ball hit to the outfield is visibly, if even only slightly, larger?
but is that right, MLB IRL is using a pitch clock this season, but not the Show?
15 seconds to pitch with bases empty
20 seconds with runner on base
and 8 seconds on the pitch clock before the batter has to be in the box?
now that one's a little tougher to swallow if it didn't make it into 23OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Yeah I don't really think anyone playing the game, or the AI for that matter is taking longer than 8 or 9 seconds at the most.Comment

Re: Larger Base Pads Not In MLB The Show 23??
I think the biggest rule change not being implemented is the pick off rule. I understand not wanting to implement the balk aspect of it, but I hope that for offline they at least make it how it works online and just make it so that you can’t pick over more than twice.Comment

I don't think the sizes are big enough to where would even really notice it much if at all. Big nothingburger for me.Comment
