The early 99's have me a little worried that mini-seasons will once again be loaded with God Squads, only instead of it taking a month, it will be week 1, if not day 1.

And as a Franchise player, I found DD to be more enjoyable than Franchise last year. You can play and enjoy both modes (and RTTS too); it doesn't have to be one or the other. Looking forward to another fun year of MLBTS!

b) I 1000% agree with you on the negative impacts on RTTS that they have introduced. (I also fundamentally don't think CAPs belong in DD at all - but that is a different discussion altogether)

If you're a RTTS player, you totally have a reason to be peeved at SDS' design philosophy in trying to combine it with DD the last two years. I totally have your back on that.

One of two reasons I have not purchased a "The Show" game since 2020 as I am an only RttS player. Once I saw in '21 that DD was heavily influenced in RttS and to a certain degree in '22, it was a hard pass for me and probably will always be. Throw in the fact that there is no Y2Y saves and it became a no brainer for me. My only interest in '23 would be for Negro Leagues.

I don’t play the mode all that much….but I sure love the collection aspect….and I earn stubs and cards playing 100’s of hours franchise mode.

Without question the most non predatory card mode in console sports games.

My thing is to collect my favorite classic ball players. And I don’t have to play the mode that much to do so.

And as far as the whole idea that it has taken away from franchise mode….yes and no.

Yes because the culture of sports video gaming has shifted to ultimate team modes. So there is more hype and excitement around esports and card modes.

No because we still have franchise modes across all sports games and the resources are the resources. It’s up to the developers to improve it. I don’t think the card modes have anything to do with it.

I am in the minority that The Show and NBA2K23 have very solid franchise modes which are highly playable.

2K is certainly deeper.

The hope is The Show can expand rosters….to me that is what is holding the mode back from taking the next step and becoming deeper (deeper draft and deeper minor leagues and more scouts needed). Expanded rosters means full single A and international free agency. It would be a game changer. Why?

More storylines can evolve.

Also deeper Stat tracking in terms of league history and historical minor league stats.

And the usual call for better CPU logic.

Not much else is needed. It’s already a great mode.

I had already decided that this year, after using my favorite team the Braves in Franchise in 21 and 22, I was going to use a new team in Franchise this year (most likely the Mariners) and stick to using more Braves in DD. So the Captains thing works for that.

But the complete lack of any 9 innings offline mode except the meaningless (and boring) play vs CPU is a huge letdown for me.
