Re: MLB The Show 23 Feature Premiere Schedule
My apologies everyone, I'll just keep my thoughts/opinions to myself from now on... Carry on.
Still looking forward to Thursday to see what was added to Franchise and Presentation/Commentary.Milwaukee Brewers | Green Bay Packers | North Carolina Tar Heels | Wisconsin BadgersComment

Re: MLB The Show 23 Feature Premiere Schedule
No need to apologize.
I am looking forward to the Negro League addition to the game, but I can understand the frustration with the amount of attention they are pushing with the mode. Especially when compared to other aspects of the game that seemingly have not advanced much in years.
We don’t know how much time, and effort, went into the addition. So, it might not have had an impact on other parts of the game. Of course, since we do not know, it might have had an impact. That will always be up to everyone’s own interpretation.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 23 Feature Premiere Schedule
Personally not expecting much, which sucks!
There are a few things ive been hoping for, for a couple years now and nothing.
Everything so far has been ok
(Negro League thing is cool but not for me)
Again we are in yr 3 of PS5 and unfort other than Stadium Creator ive been extremly underwhelmed so far with The Show!
Will keep fingers crossed for one of 2 things

Not expecting much is the way to go about it. The game is solid as is, but is typically not something you need to buy every year if you are a RTTS or Franchise player. Every 3-4 years is good to feel as if the game “moved forward” for those modes.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 23 Feature Premiere Schedule
First of all, yes, franchise is one of my primary modes. That's also not important here...this discussion runs far deeper than "what mode do you play?".
The Negro League mode and associated teachings accompanying it are far more important than anything else SDS does with this game for the reasons I alluded to in my previous post. We should all be celebrating what SDS is doing here and give this work a proper amount of respect it deserves. Using it as another segue into advancing the same old franchise-centric agenda came across to me as being very disrespectful (it's about the time and place - and you missed the mark).
Let me be clear, I truly don't believe it was meant that way. We all have those moments where we can get tunnel vision for something we love that obscures us from seeing the big picture. Trust me, I've been there too. And if the roles were reversed and I had been the one to have made that statement, I hope you would have called me out on it and helped give me the chance to grow.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

I totally understand what SDS is doing with this mode... All I really meant by my post is the frustration with another video on the same thing... Can't all this be done in the story telling mode it's self?First of all, yes, franchise is one of my primary modes. It's really great that SDS did this mode, just didnt think we would be getting a video every week on it, really that is all I meant.
I've just leave it alone and move on now.

The vids are marketing. How they decide to "roll out" a new feature has nothing to do with how many resources they spent on it.I totally understand what SDS is doing with this mode... Also, I could have the wrong person, but aren't you the one saying you're perfectly fine playing your franchise from MLB 20 and won't be purchasing until they add y2y saves anyways?Comment

Re: MLB The Show 23 Feature Premiere Schedule
This is all very true, but what happens when the "resources and work that must be done within that mode with the code in hand is all that could be done for that cycle" has been the same for years on end?Its not whether someone is franchise fan, RTTS fan, DD fan, or whatever their preferred mode of play.
You have different teams that work on different aspects of the game. And the mantra that is passed around is that if one's particular mode didn't get as much attention as they see fit, then has to be at the fault of another mode, is growing long in the tooth.
No one knows the difference between what needs to be done via coding, resources, etc...to put something into franchise mode versus that of another mode.
People are refusing to take things as they are and must continuously find something to blame.
Why can't it just be that these things were added to a particular mode because the time, resources and work that must be done within that mode with the code in hand is all that could be done for that cycle.
Or in regard to the Negro league it looks as if it got an updated code/engine that is nowhere to be seen in the rest of the game, again more resources and time.
Franchise has LOST features over the years of me buying the show (First was 08), and it hasn't regained many. Online franchise being a whole mode by itself. Throw in the fact that many franchiser's have been put off by the inclusion of MTO, which has gotten features that did not make it into franchise.
If time is being put into another mode, then that's time that could have been put somewhere else. Whether that be RTTS/Franchise/DD/Etc. Nobody knows how that time, or resources is divided, but its abundantly clear that for a long stretch of year the time/resources has NOT been given to Franchise. Simple as that. I don't know why there has been this craziness that implodes each year at OS on this very topic. It is so crystal clear that the mode has been largely abandoned for almost a decade now, whether that be SDS's decision or not.Last edited by eric7064; 03-06-2023, 02:53 PM.Comment
