On Gamestop website it lists the PS4 captains edition like this: MLB The Show 23 The Captain Edition - PlayStation 4 with PlayStation 5 Entitlements.

What does PS5 entitlements mean? Forgive me if this has been asked before.

You get a digital code to download the PS5 version of the game.

Apologies in advance if I'm taking this topic of course, but is there a way to stop the PS4 version of the game from showing up on the PS5 dashboard?

Just a minor inconvenience for sure, but I'm not a fan of having to put the PS4 disc in to play the PS5 version, only because two icons pop up on the dashboard. I love buying the Collector's editions every year (especially love collecting the caps - none last year! grumble, grumble...), but the Collector's/Captain's editions only come with a PS4 disc and PS5 code. Wouldn't it make more sense to reverse that - give a PS5 disc and a PS4 code?

The issue with the disc thing is that not all PS5 systems are the disc version. There is also the digital version. So only making the PS5 copy of games a disc would only take away potential sales.

Gamestop letting me down this year, just saying this lightheartily of course, I couldnt secure a preorder through them this time around, guessing there are supply shortages with discs (or Show new era caps lol).
anyways, now I'm going to have to drive 30plus miles to Best Buy (I dont really do online shopping, I'm old school, still living in the 20th century)

QUESTION is, does anybody know if BestBuy still has physical copy editions preorders left, the one with Jeter steelbook and new era cap?

funny thing is I didnt preorder for the first time last year since Show 17, but on a whim, I stopped in one Gamestop I know about the Friday before regular release and they had extra copies of the preorder version for whatever reason, so I jumped on getting it right then even though I had planned on waiting to get it at Walmart the following Tuesday

well, that sucks. I just left Best Buy, they said to preorder there you have to pay in full right away. I always only put down ten dollars at gamestop.
I wonder if gamestop did a limited run because they were getting left with a lot of copies they couldnt sell because of people cancelling at the last minute

Yeah, I think it's weird that if you've downloaded the PS5 version that you should have to have the PS4 disc in the drive to play the game.

The Captain Edition comes with a PS4 disc and a PS5 code. However, you must have a PS5 disc console to play the ps5 version because you have to put the ps4 disc in for it to work.
