    Unimpressed with tech test

First, let me say, MLBTS is a good game. I love video baseball and have played the crap out of 22. It's a darn good game but....... I'm really disappointed with next gen improvements. I don't know if the developers have gotten lazy, or the pressure to make money, or what the deal is. This game is not that much better than it was a few years ago. When these guys first started this series, it seemed they were passionate baseball fans that wanted to make a great simulation of baseball. Now it seems they care too much about things that really aren't baseball. Again, i'll say, this is a darn good game, and I'm sure they work their butts off. But, it just doesn't seem like they have the passion they used to have for creating an amazing on field expirience. The improvements the last few editions have been small and unimpressive. I'm sure that lack of real competition has something to do with it. Also, the almighty dollar.
They haven't improved grass or dirt textures in a very long time. I remember MLB2K8 had grass textures that would deteriorate as the season wore on. There would be spots in the outfield where the grass would look worn. How about adding a couple of new stadiums every year? Fictional or minor league. How about making uniforms more realistic. Pants above the knees, better looking short pants? How about more equipment choices? How about a better baseball texture on a ball fouled off at the plate (looks like a cartoon ball)? How about better ambient stadium sounds? How about a ton more new animations each year, rather than a few here and there. How about more and better stat tracking? I remember Front Page Sports Baseball had stat tracking that would put MLBTS to shame. How about improving the clunky catcher animations on a pop foul behind the plate? And how about getting year to year saves back in.
It's a good game, but to me, It' like the can't miss first round draft pick that never makes it out of the minors. Maybe the developers are burned out. Maybe the pressure to make money runs everything they do. Maybe I expect too much. I don't know. Anyway... thanks for a good (not great) game guys.

On topic/sort of off topic but does anyone ever advance on a wild pitch/passed ball from the catcher? I feel like the ball always bounces back to the catcher quickly and catcher's reaction time is so fast.

There is another impressions thread, as Caulfield said, but be careful going in there to do anything other than praise the game. I agree with you 100%. Completely underwhelmed by the test but what I find most annoying after 17 years of playing this game is how much they talk like they've reinvented video game baseball. I've worked in marketing, there's promotional talk and then there's unsubstantiated bull usually put into ad copy and promo when you fear you don't have much to sell. Everything you said, particularly about FPS Baseball (do you remember the stat tracking in Tony La Russa??) is on point.

Any changes to the game are so minute you'd need a microscope to see them.

I’ve had a runner score from 3rd on a passed ball. Depends on what stadium you’re in. I use auto base running.
