    Re: Keep restarting franchise

I think everyone battles restarting from time to time. My goal this year to avoid that is just wait for the FIRST roster update that has Senga, Yoshida, Fujinama and then just go

There will always been a better version that comes out all the time. You drive yourself made if you keep restarting.

I have done franchise in the past where I play every game. If I wanted more seasons I would play a game. then roll a 6 sided die and based on the roll that is how many games I quick managed before I played again.

Always use 30 team control but only to monitor trades and 40 man nothing else.

      Re: Keep restarting franchise

I tend to restart my franchise a few times in the first month, but its usually because I'm still learning how the new game works.

Not everyone plays the game the same way. I have to feel like the team I'm controlling is mine, controlled by me and built by me. That's why I prefer rebuilds. If a team is already good and winning then I'm not interested and it becomes boring.

Playing 162 with a bad team can be tedious. So the first season tends to have a bit of simming involved in order to get to season 2 quicker, which is really when the fun starts. And that team because fully MINE and that's when it can be addictive.

        Re: Keep restarting franchise

For a few years now I've found a method that works really well for me and allows me to get through at least 3 seasons per game cycle (It would be more if I played it year round, but generally I play The Show for 6 months, and then Madden for 6 months):

I play one game of each series, usually which one depends on which pitcher it's been the longest since I've used. For the games that I don't play in that series, I do Quick Manage instead of simming. This allows me to keep control of my lineups and bullpen management the way I want it, as well as allow me to feel a bit more connected to my team on the games I don't play. Then when the playoffs roll around I play every game.

Took me many years to get to a point where I could "let go" of the fact that not all stats that were accumulated during the year were from my direct input. But, it's a lot more fun to get through multiple seasons and actually start seeing fruits of my drafting.

That said, had Y2Y not been removed I would have been much more apt to keep playing all 162. I just know that if I did that now I would never get to a point where I'd see the players I drafted in the majors.

Here is my approach to stay engaged this year:

          1) Use JWDixon's spreadsheet which adds in random events/storylines throughout your season
          2) Use Armor and Sword's Clean Screen slides which also include shifting sliders throughout the season to increase/decrease trades, etc in relevant times
          3) Wait until spring training rosters are out and import those

          4) Appreciate all the work that it took from others to have items 1-3 and rock a franchise you'll love playing every game.

I've not played 162 since All Star Baseball 2003. But it seems more interesting with the new balanced schedule. Along with quick counts, you could also play the moments to get through the schedule.

I create my player and put him on whichever team I want to use. I chose the marlins on ‘21. I do all the franchise stuff you can do but when it’s time to play I only player lock my guy. It’s a blend of franchise and rtts. I’m currently in the 2029 season and unlikely to purchase 23 because I’m too invested in this franchise. The seasons play at a decent pace with player lock and before you know it, it’s the off-season to help cure the “rosteritis” we get from time to time.

Quick counts, quick manage where you can jump in the game at any time , play the moments. Plenty of ways to get through 162. I got through 3 seasons this last year.

                  Re: Keep restarting franchise

I think it's normal to switch teams often when you first start, that's what I always did. The best thing to do is enjoy the game as you like it. The worst part is the first season, especially with rosteritis because things will constantly be changing and you will feel like you are behind with the actual season. Sometimes it helps to pick a team you don't follow because you won't be so invested in the real team and it will help the rosteritis. Things get better after the first season because the entire league takes a new look and it really becomes your MLB.

Also, use 30 team control. It was intimidating at first but it's super easy to set up and once you do, you have complete control over everything. I have the other 29 teams set to auto but if I see a trade that I don't like, I just exit and restart the game (or you can just trade the players back).

The only downfall about player locking every game is your starting nine get gassed and your bench players never play

I choose play full game and take care of all that, then go to subs and player lock from there

                        Re: Keep restarting franchise

I play MLB the Show for months until the trade deadline, then I start franchise. The grind of the 162 is worth it to me because I love playing this game. This is the only sports game I never get tired of playing. I want to get good as possible. I spend months playing against the AAA and AA teams. I will play all 30 teams 5 times.

I play all spring training games too even in multiple seasons. It is possible to finish a franchise in 2 or 2 1/2 months. I only play the game on weekends so I have something to look forward to or on holidays. This makes you not get tired of it.

I am crazy, I just like playing all the games in franchise, but I am obsessed with being good in the game. There is no better feeling of you leading the league in major categories, clinching your division, and having the best record in the majors.

It is all about getting reps you can be as good as possible so I play as many games as I can before I enter franchise. Every game is a learning experience. I got two errors, how can I not do that again? This was a 1-0 game, how can I score better the next time?

Treat this game for what it is, a strategy. There are many ways to motivate yourself to keep going. Once you make the full 162-game season, you will feel like you climbed Mount Everest ,then you can't wait to do it all over again. There is nothing more fulfilling than completing all the games without simulating any of them, you play the entire thing and you see what you accomplished in the journey.

I feel cheated or I am cheating myself if I don't go full grind. It is the best feeling in the world playing with your favorite team and accomplishing goals. I hate losing because I am a competitor.
