Questions going into MLB 23 (Gameplay/Franchise)

Finally updated consoles from a Xbox 360/PS2/PS3 last fall to a PS4.

For the first time in my life I completed a 162 game season and really do not want to get MLB 23; love the game and have great sliders but the balanced schedule MLB has adopted is calling my name along with possibly having a less repetitive broadcast crew.

Looking for MLB to fix the following & not have to find work-arounds (or maybe they did and I'm messing up): Anyone have any info on these yet? I'm very new to this gen of consoles - Been playing College Hoops 2k8, Older Versions of the Show, Madden 12 etc. - yea one of those guys....

    Gameplay:
    - Lag on the stolen base attempts
    - Rocket Bunts that lead to unrealistic line drives
    - Computer Controlled Team actually doing mound visits

    Franchise: (I'm a 32 Team Control Guy)
    - A way to cut down rosters during spring training so you do not have to use a player's 3 moves
    - Correct Bullpen usage from relievers in the Long Relief or Set Up positions (whether the game is played or simulated this is a mess) I do bump up the Hook setting to try and fix this for sim/played games.
    - Would also be nice if you could set the opponent's line up before games like back in the day; pain in the butt on rest days for guys and having to back out b/c they botch the line up.
    - Any insight on if they are using a different method for Budgets; the annual surplus thing really did not make total sense to me. I know what it does but didn't think it was a good reflection of high v. low budget franchises.

    New to me:
If they fix the stadium additions like Toronto for example after I start my franchise with an update - will the updates work in my already started franchise?

    Thanks for any insight.

    I will try to help

Gameplay- Turning up the sliders on the stolen base always helped me with seeing more.

Rocket Bunts- I think that is here for life

Mound Visit- Never seen the computer do one. Normally they come out the pitcher is out

    Franchise

I am guessing you are meaning the first spring training over all? Cause I let them handle it after the first year. I set it up under roster control before I load it into a franchise

Bullpen usage- I think this is on SDS and its code

Linesup- Once I set them they stay the same minus injuries or rest

For budgets I give everyone a cap based on how much they spend and try to make sure they do not go over it best i can by making moves if they do

      Appreciate the feedback:

The stolen base question wasn't for a lack of seeing them; there is a physical lag when you try to release the trigger to steal. The baserunner gets "stuck" before attempting to steal. Forced me to go to auto baserunning.

The roster moves do not count if you let the computer select your official 26 man roster for opening day - you are correct. However, they select it from your 40 man roster. If you have highly rated prospects (take Volpe for example) who may be rated higher than your utility guy but isn't ready for your MLB team (I manage like real-life teams or at least attempt to) - they will keep him up. When you go to send him down during spring training it uses a roster move. These roster moves are key for bullpen guys etc. The work around on MLB23 was only having 26 men on your 40 man roster however this is a pain in the butt and makes the Rule 5 Draft unrealistic OR you have to not select anyone.

The pre-game line ups do stick - however if the computer is resting a guy in the lineup b/c he is fatigued they will shuffle the line up for the game. Example everytime the Twins had a guy tired they would make Correa bat like 6/7th against me and it made zero sense. This one isn't a huge deal breaker by any means.

Sounds like MLB23 wasn't the first version to have bunt issues or bullpen strategic issues?

On the stealing yes I found a way around that. If you hold down the button to steal the entire time the pitcher is on the mound it gets delayed. If you time it when he starts his motion there is no delay.

          For lineups in played games--
I use a second controller to take control of the cpu team, set the roster, then once the game starts I switch the control back to the cpu

For bullpen usage in a played game--
I will just manually switch to the cpu team when I think they are gonna change the pitcher or I think the pitcher should be changed and make the change for them. I usually kind of select a couple pitchers as options and then randomize.

          For budgets--
I turn them off. Only real way to do it in my opinion. Then I manage manually because teams arent going to act with a budget in mind. Like the Rays arent going to trade a high value player before they reach free agency since they won't be able to pay them.

I haven't thought about controlling yhe CPU bullpen management, but this actually makes a lot of sense, will definitely be doing so this season.

Nothing more frustrating than seeing the CPU bring in the LR in the 6th to get 6 outs instead of using setup guys.

              This sounds like the solution
