Re: MLB The Show 23 Trade Discussion

Just made a really unrealistic trade in franchise. Had Liberatore as my 5th starter and he was killing it so when Wainwright came off the IL, I decided to trade Matz. Just used the trade finder to see what anyone would offer. White Sox offered Colson Montgomery. Before I accepted I had no idea who the guy was. Didn't know he was the 38th ranked prospect in baseball in real life. Would have never accepted the trade if I would have realized it was completely not realistic for what the Cards would get in a Matz trade. Just saw he was a B rated young prospect and figured it was maybe like a low 80s guy, not an 89 potential guy.

I forget how bad the trade logic can be in the game.

Looking at a trade for Sal Perez to bring him to the Padres and have KC "eat" 50% of the deal. What do you think a fair package might look like for him?

Re: MLB The Show 23 Trade Discussion

Looking for a C at the trade deadline. Im only looking for C who are rentals and on a team eliminated from playoff contention.

            Candidates are:

            White Sox:
Yasmani Grandal - .263, 7 HR, 25 RBI. Downside is his contract is $18.3 Mil

            Mariners:
            Tom Murphy - .283/.370/.525. 7 HR, 17 RBI. $1.6 Mil

            Rangers:
            Mitch Garver - .256, 10 HR, 28 RBI - $3.9 Mil

            Pirates:
Endy Rodriguez (for some reason the game has him as a FA. I don't think I want to exploit it though). .333, 1 HR, 5 RBI. A potential.

            Diamondbacks:
            Carson Kelly: .243, 3 HR, 17 RBI. $4.3 Mil

I'm leaning Tom Murphy. Don't think he'd cost a ton. What would i give up for Murphy?

Re: MLB The Show 23 Trade Discussion

Early days in my A's franchise here...Thoughts on:

              -OAK: Ramon Laureano ($9.5)

              -MIA: Khalil Watson ($4) + Jacob Miller ($3.9) + Sixto Sanchez ($1.9) = $9.5

My thoughts are kind of split on it...Sixto hasn't pitched since 2020, and his durability is (obviously) low, so it's a pretty big risk. He was also one of the top 10 prospects in baseball when he made his debut, so I can see them holding on for dear life hoping for a renaissance of some sort...

Watson was a high draft pick in 2021 who was absolutely brutal in his first full pro season. He's currently ranked as the 13th best prospect in the Marlins system.

Jacob Miller is a RHP who was the Marlins 2nd round pick in 22.

Laureano fills a huge void in the Marlins outfield, as he knocks Bryan De La Cruz to a bench role, and most assuredly upgrades their outfield defence.

Thoughts? BBTV.com seems low on Miller/Watson, but they're both pretty fringy at this point IMO.

Any realistic way the Tigers could move Baez for another negative value contract?

As the new owner of the Oakland Athletics, might I ask what you may be willing to part with for us to simply eat his entire contract?

Obviously not real-life realistic, but given that I'm looking to turn this org around and put butts in seats...he might be a black hole offensively, but I'd like to improve my team defence.

I mean...with his .122/.182/.146 slash line, he might just opt out at the end of the season...

Edit: It's crazy that he's got a career OBP of .301 and makes $20+ mil a year.

Sad to see this thread kind of dead this early on

At the trade deadline in my franchise with the Blue Jays. Going as expected so far, 2nd in the AL East with a 62-44 record. A clear upgrade for this team is at 2nd base. Currently swapping between Merrifield, Espinal and Biggio all who have played poorly so far. The problem is, and why I'm here is that there isn't many trade options available at 2B.

Teams out are Rays, Royals, White Sox, Mariners, Marlins, Athletics, Nationals, Reds, Pirates, Rockies, Padres. My only options really from these teams that I see are Jonathan India (CIN), Brendan Rodgers (COL), Jake Cronenworth (SD) and Luis Arraez (MIA). I like India and Cronenworth the most but don't think either would move IRL and would likely be expensive (Arraez as well considering MIA made a big move for him). Rodgers seems the most realistic, but don't know if it makes sense.

Would be willing to move any prospect besides Ricky Tiedemann and would like to include either Espinal or Biggio in a potential deal.

Any options from contending teams that would make sense or any trades you guys like surrounding the players mentioned above?

Cleveland could move Rosario for the right price if Arias and Rocchio are playing well enough

Hey all. Love this thread every year. Figured I would run one by you all.

Looking at a trade with the Royals for Chapman. Also, looking for a bench power bat. Was looking at Franmil Reyes (he always kills me in game)

Chapman is -0.1 on trade values site
Reyes is 0.0 on trade value site.

Obviously I would have to give up something to get these guys from KC but -0.1 value is hard to make up haha!

Any suggestions on what I could throw KC for the pair?

I have a surplus of 2B with Whit and Espinal. I could give Biggio and a lottery ticket prospect? Biggio is 0.3 in value on the site. I could even take back another player from them to even value. Biggio could do with change of scenery.

I was looking at blowing up the Brewers in my franchise as well. Here's what I was able to get for Burnes from the Dodgers:

                                Brewers get:

Gavin Lux (bring him back to Wisconsin)
                                Miguel Vargas
                                Bobby Miller

Values match up pretty well too.
