      Twins Monthly Report

Current Game Date: May 1st, 2023

Current Record: 19-10 (1st AL Central)

      AL Central Standings:
      Minnesota 19-10
      Cleveland 17-12, 2 GB
      Detroit 14-14, 4.5 GB
      Kansas City 13-16, 6 GB
      Chicago (AL) 13-16, 6GB

      Monthly Recap
The Twins started off red hot winning their first 12 games in a row. After that run they cooled off and went 6-10 to fall to 18-10. Only a walk off 3 run home run by Jorge Polanco on the last day of April saved them from being swept at home by Kansas City. May looks to be a challenging month for them. They open the month with back to back road trips to see the White Sox and Guardians. They also face the Padres, Dodgers, Angels, Blue Jays and Astros this month, all playoff contending teams.

      Player Notes:
      • The Twins believe Byron Buxton to be a generational type player, but he's played more than 100 games once in his career. The Twins have altered their approach in managing his playing time in order to keep him on the field. Buxton despite being an excellent defender in Centerfield will see more time at DH, especially in day games after a night game, if they don't withhold him altogether on those days. They also seem committed to giving him Sundays off. Buxton has responded well slashing .275/.371.527 with 5 home runs and 7 stolen bases.
      • After a nightmare season in New York and LA last year Joey Gallo is having a renaissance of sorts so far this year. Gallo's slash line .275/365.571 are more than the Twins could have hoped for and he leads the team with 8 home runs. He's played plus defense in Leftfield as well. A possible extension may be in his future.
      • Jhoan Duran has solidified his spot as a top end closer. Through April Duran has notched 10 saves whith 0 blown saves while sporting a 1.74 ERA. He's also run up a 9.58 K/9 and a whip below zero at 0.97

      Prospect Report:
      • Brooks Lee 3B (AA Witchita, #30 MLB Prospect) .303/.352/.470 2 HR, 12 RBI
      • Royce Lewis SS (AAA St. Paul, #45 MLB Prospect) .351/.360/.568 3 HR, 8 RBI, 3 SB
      • Emmanual Rodriguez OF (AAA St. Paul, #88 MLB Prospect) .288/.382/.333
      • Edouard Julien IF (AAA St. Paul) .290/.364/.391
      • Connor Prielipp LHP (AAA Witchita) 2-0, 2.42

Cardinals sweep Cubs in London - Lose Arenado

The Cardinals (44-33) swept the Cubs in the mini two game London series over the weekend. The sweep extends the Cards lead to 3 games over the Cubs in the NL Central.

The Cardinals pitching was brilliant! Adam Wainwright tossed a complete game shutout in which the Cardinals would use a Lars Nootbaar walk off single to score Tyler O'Neill from 2nd in the bottom of the 9th. Wainwright allowed just 4 hits with 6 strikeouts in his outing.

On Sunday it was Jordan Montgomery's turn, but he wasn't quite as good as Waino as he was lifted after 8 innings due to pitch count, but still got the win and the Cardinals still shutout the Cubs, 3-0. Ryan Helsley would get the save. Lars Nootbaar would launch a solo homerun in the 3rd to open the scoring and Arenado and Yepez would each add a RBI. Unfortunately, the Cardinals were delivered a big blow in the 7th inning, when Arenado would injure his shoulder and leave the game. The bad news below.

Cardinals will return to the States and welcome the Astros to town for a 3 game series in St.Louis starting Tuesday night.

Nolan Arenado suffers a Torn Labrum - Out for the Season

It wasn't all good in London for the Cardinals. Nolan Arenado suffered a torn labrum in the 7th inning and will miss the rest of the season. Arenado was on pace to be the starting 3rd baseman in the upcoming all-star game and was hitting .284 with 13 homeruns and 49 RBIs before the injury.

For now the Cardinals will turn to Nolan Gorman to play 3rd base with Paul DeJong at shortstop and Tommy Edman at 2nd base. Jose Fermin was recalled from Memphis to fill the roster vacancy while the front office decides how to move forward. Huge blow
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Currently looking to next year as we try to get a lot of guys in the mix. These last two months are basically auditions for starting spots next year. Hoping to play competitively up until the end will have a wrapup at the end of the season. For the September Call ups Corey Ray and Josh James will be with the big club.

              Offensive Studs:
Jose Azocar has been leading the way with a .320 average and Nomar Mazara has ten home runs. Drew Jackson has been solid all year and on the bench Monte Harrison has been as well.

              Offensive Duds:
Keston Hiura and Ivan Herrera have not been great both hitting below .200, Luis Gonzalez has also been struggling.

              Pitching Studs:
Packy Naughton has been solid so far and Spencer Howard as well. In the pen Santana, Bruhl, Bradley, and Patton have been my best pitchers.

              Pitching Duds:
Andrew Jackson struggled so I'm trying him in long relief now. Alcala has been better of late but not great and Drew Smith has struggled.

              Transactions:
Claimed Jonah Bride from the Athletics Claimed Ricky Vanasco from the Rangers. Claimed David Hamilton from the Red Sox. Called up Cory Abbott and optioned Zac Lowther. Claimed Alex Faedo from the Tigers. Released Ford Proctor and Daniel Mengden.

              Injuries:
Lewin diaz broke his hand and will be out the rest of the season

At the end of the season the Beavers finished at 75-87 17 games back of the division winning Yankees. September went fairly well as the Beavers had a winning record to end the month. Nick Martinez was named pitcher of the month and Drew Jackson took home Rookie of the month. Fairly satisfied with how the year went, definitely have some guys to build around. Going into the off-season I'll be looking to plug in some veterans around these guys. Might actually have a shot at being competitive next year. Free agency will be pitcher focused but also looking to find a middle of the order bat.

              Lineup:
DH: David Hamilton .257 4 RBI 7 SB - was solid after claiming off waivers, will definitely be in more of utility role next year.
CF: Jose Azocar .320 3 HR 32 RBI - definitely exceeded my expectations, hopefully he'll keep continuing to develop.
SS: Drew Jackson .277 10 HR 60 RBI 25 SB - Team MVP he was awesome, can play every position besides catcher.
LF: Nomar Mazara .262 14 HR 58 RBI - started slow but had a solid season, not sure if I'll bring him back.
2B: Isan Diaz .222 5 HR 27 RBI - was okay, probably will be in the minors to begin next season.
1B: Keston Hiura .222 5 HR 27 RBI - started extremely slow but ended on a hot streak.
RF: Matt Wallner .163 1 RBI 11 games - claimed him from the Twins, will definitely be in the minors next year.
3B: Cadyn Grenier .244 9 HR 52 RBI - was very solid all year, want him in more of a utility role though.
C: Ivan Herrera .165 1 HR 11 RBI - never got going will probably start in the minors

              Bench:
Jonah Bride .204 1 RBI - didn't really do much probably will move on.
Corey Ray .243 4 RBI - thought he was solid and definitely will have a shot next year.
Monte Harrison .254 8 HR 33 RBI 13 SB - definitely was fairly consistent he'll platoon with someone next year.
Willians Astudillo .246 8 HR 39 RBI - I'll keep him around just for his versatility.
Toby Welk .284 2 HR 3 RBI - was pretty solid, I'll start him in the minors to begin the season.
Jackson Fraizer .288 5 HR 12 RBI - definitely will get a shot next year.

              Rotation:
1: Spencer Howard 0-5 58 Innings pitched 4.17 ERA 1.61 WHIP - was better than what the numbers showed, hopefully he continues to develop.
2: Nick Martinez 13-9 163 Innings pitched 3.80 ERA 1.37 WHIP - Definitely will be my number one next year he was very good down the stretch.
3: Corey Abbott 0-4 36 innings pitched 6.50 ERA 1.89 WHIP - probably won't be back with the club
4: Packy Naughton 2-3 51 innings pitched 4.53 ERA 1.34 WHIP - he wasn't terrible and might be better in the long relief.
5: Alex Faedo 3-3 45 innings pitched 2.60 ERA 1.04 WHIP - definitely think he could be something looking forward to developing him more.

              Bullpen:
LRP: Andre Jackson 39 innings pitched 7.49 ERA 1.89 WHIP - was not good think he might be better in middle relief.
LRP: Josh James 23 innings pitched 2.70 1.54 WHIP - he was pretty good think middle relief would be better for him as well.
MRP: Jorge Acala 53 innings pitched 4.05 ERA 1.43 WHIP - started off terrible but finished strong.
MRP: Dennis Santana 63 innings pitched 3.43 ERA 1.38 WHIP - was solid all year.
MRP: Justin Bruhl 26 innings pitched 3.42 ERA 1.06 WHIP - definitely will be the lefty in the pen.
MRP: Drew Smith 39 innings pitched 4.85 ERA 1.38 WHIP - wasn't great not sure what to do with him.
SU: Archie Bradley 80 innings pitched 2.93 ERA 1.15 WHIP - was the most consistent and hopefully can bring him back.
CL: Spencer Patton 51 innings pitched 2.63 ERA 1.17 WHIP - was solid, started to fall off towards the end of the season.

              Awards:
Jose Ramirez took home the AL MVP and Anthony Santander took home the NL MVP... He hit .295 with 49 Home runs and 133 RBI sun the Giants.

Jacob Degrom and Corbin Burnes won the CY Young.

Andrew Benintendi and Francisco Lindor won the Batting title.

Jimmy Hergert and Josh Hader won the Reliever of the year.

George Valera and Dominic Fletcher won the Rookie of the year.

              Angels won the World Series

Alright after doing a ton of roster breakdowns and getting advice from drag to avoid the Nationals I decided to run with them anyway due to the prospects they have coming up who I really like. I also attached my follow sheet on the bottom of my sig. I used his great first page then the ones I had created for the rest.

I don't think I could do Oakland, but it would be so awesome to build a winning team with them and get the Coliseum rocking again.

After restarting multiple franchises i finally decided on the Washington Nationals. Played/simmed the first season and had a ton of fun. Now ready for the second season. I.

In the draft of 2023 i had a BIG BIG draft. 1st round pick a 18yo CF who is already MLB ready and has 99 potential. Think Ken Griffey JR. 2nd round pick was a 74 B potential 1st baseman who is already starting.

I absolutely love my lineup now:

                          2b A. Frazier
                          SS L. Garcia
                          1B B. Sanchez
                          RF W. Myers
                          3B Y. Moncada
                          C. K. Ruiz

As you can see i did a BIG overhaul on the lineup. All the signings i made are bounce back guys (to keep the rebuild somewhat realistic) The biggest signings where Alvarado, Frazier, Myers and Mahle. Alvarado had a misserable season with a sub 7 ERA. Frazier was allright but not the frazier from Pittsburgh and Myers was okay in 2023. Mahle was mostly injured in 2023 so i gave him a 2yr contract with a player option. I hope they will find their old forms back so i can maybe ship them come trade deadline. C.J. Abrams is stuck on the bench do to his performance in 2023 and the spring. Never surpassing the mendoza line and playing icky defense wich i hate because i really like the guy.

Lets see what 2024 brings for the Nats! Lets hope for a step forward in the rebuild. With the BIG draft i had in 2023 and the 1st pick in the 2024 draft i can see the Nats coming around!

                            Minnesota Twins Announce Roster Moves
                            • OF Trevor Larnach (Back) has been placed on the 10 Day IL. Highly regarded prospect Royce Lewis was recalled from AAA St. Paul to replace him on the roster. The 23 year old Lewis has the ability to play multiple infield and outfield and has a chance to stick with the big club if he plays well. Larnach was hitting .187 with 1 HR and 6 RBI in a reserve role for the Twins.
                            • RHP Joe Ryan (Head Contusion) has been placed on the 15 day IL with a head injury after being hit by a line drive in his last start. Ryan was 2-3 with a 3.66 ERA. Kenta Maeda (1-0, 2.91) will take his spot in the rotation. Trevor Megill was recalled from AAA St. Paul to replace him. The hard throwing Megill was 4-3 with a 4.80 ERA with the Twins in 2022.
                            • The Twins also announced they have signed Free Agent LHP Zack Britton to a 1 year deal. The 35 year old reliever was assigned to AAA St. Paul, but is expected to join the big club after garnering some minor league appearances.
                            • RHP Chris Paddack has begun his rehab assignment in AAA St. Paul. Paddack a once highly regarded prospect with the San Diego Padres is coming off his second major arm surgery. It's hoped he will be available at the major league level by late May or early June. Paddack only appeared in 5 games for the Twins in 2022 earning a 1-2 record and a 4.03 ERA in 22 innings.

Figured it was time for an update on my progress since I haven't given any the last couple of days, but we just swept the Rockies to move to 92-45. Jordan Romano now has 50 saves out of 51 chances. Vlad Junior has a 14 game hit streak while Matt Chapman has a 19 game hit streak

See I am not sure if you are a Braves fan but I want so bad to do a Mets one but I worry if I can stick with it when they piss me off in real mlb lol. But I want to do it

I might try again. Those are my guys. I want to see what it would be like in the future with Baty, Mauricio, Ramirez, etc

Whatever I decide to do I will not post anymore rosters or anything until I have played atleast 2 weeks of the season so I know I will follow through. I have like 19 posts in here for a new franchise with rosters, stories etc lol. Then I quit

So if I can get through 2 weeks I would probably stick with it. and then just post it all at once.
